I'm looking at the parts on K'N air filter.

I found the part # 56-1410 for Sus.

Is it 2 parts, one for each carb, or is an oval shape like the OEM box?

Or does someone knows the # for the drop-in K'N???

Any other brand of filter to suggest?

I have a K&N filter that fits in the original air cleaner but I don't know what the part number is. I'll have to look around and see if I can find the box it came in. It may take a day or two to find it in my "little shop of horrors".

I couldn't find the box it came in but the filter has a number C165A8 on it. Hope that helps.

BTW, when I put the filter in the stock air cleaner the cover would not close completely, I guess the filter is just a little to wide or the gaskets are too thing. It only had an 1/8 inch gap, but it just looks a little funny if you look at it, otherwise it's hard to notice.

I doubt you'll get much more dirt in the air filter if it doesn't seal the way mine did. Actually it might allow more air into the filter so maybe it isn't a bad deal after all. Of course, just because mine didn't allow the cover to seal against the backing plate of the air cleaner doesn't mean yours won't, it may have been just a little variation in the filter when they made it.

I have been using a Volvo filter on my '72 roundtops, which fit directly to the carb via bolts I got at the local hardware store. They work well but are paper filters and don't last that long at $28 for a set. These are about 3 or 4 inches deep and allow decent air flow but I think I would do better with a foam type filter because I have to keep my jets leaned out (1/2 to 3/4 turn) or I blow alot of black smoke. Does anyone out there run individual foam filters and if so what type are they? Who supplies them?

Keith

I was looking this up for my own benefit...

www.carparts.com lists a part number of E-2910 for the filter for '70-'72 240. Price is $50.82.

They also list a part # of E-2900 for the '73-74 240,260. I didn't see what the price was.
