Posted July 8, 200420 yr comment_87890 hi all,I was planning on doing the ld28 crank and 89mm piston thing BUT i think i'll go the lamer standard stroke way.I am hoping on keeping the std l28 crank and fitting some 89mm (120 thou over) pistons that should give 3.0l.Does anyone know if any standard 89mm pistons will fit, with correct piston height etc(even with diff rods)? The L series engine calc program is good but i still want more details before I go ahead.(like sussing out oversize head gaskets etc)Has anyone done this? July 8, 200420 yr comment_87913 Just a few notes there are quite a few things involved in going with this kind of set up.You can run the standard nissan flat top pistons but there are quite a few different ones around. You don't have to run Nissan ones btw you can run any piston you like as long as you use the rings that come with it and they will work with the connecting rods.I'm not sure on the 89mm pistons fitting correctly though. July 10, 200420 yr comment_88136 I believe the problem with datsun 89mm pistons is the wrist pin height. There would be too much positive deck clearance. I have never done the mock up or the math but this is what I've read. If you are gonna get custom pistons then you would have to do the math. Or someone less lazy than me could do it for you.The KA24 pistons are supposed to be the pistons of choice. Courtesy Nissan sells the stroker kit for $1300 (thats a steal) and MSA for $1700. If I had the money free and clear I would get that setup tomorrow.MSA sells oversize gaskets in custom thickness. Datrats also sells custom gaskets and they are in Australia.
