Posted July 26, 200420 yr comment_88861 Hey guys, I've installed a 105 amp alternator 1 wire GM model that does not fit up to our conventional z car bracket. I made one out of metal and welded it all up but it is allitle off and the alternator keeps getting loose and wont charge. I need to know if anyone has bought a special alternator bracket for the z car for a GM model alternator? Thanks guys! November 12, 200420 yr comment_101762 Dean,In my quest to customize/rebuild the electrical system, I've decided to go with a GM/Delco, 100 amp, one wire alternator. It's currently being shipped to me, so I don't have it on hand to do any measuring or whatnot. But my point is that I'm planning on fabricating a mount myself...and with the help of a knowledgable friend. I'll let you know when I figure something out.Jason Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/12659-alternator-bracket-anyone/#findComment-101762 Share on other sites
November 12, 200420 yr comment_101764 I almost forgot...Z Car Creations apparently sells a bracket that fits the GM-style alternator. I believe it sells for $90.00. Also, I've heard that you'll need a smaller alternator pulley to excite the alternator at idle/really low RPM's.Jason Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/12659-alternator-bracket-anyone/#findComment-101764 Share on other sites
