July 26, 200420 yr comment_88871 I believe that this car was on eBay about a year and a half ago, didn't sell then. Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/12663-evel-eagle-240z/#findComment-88871 Share on other sites
July 26, 200420 yr comment_88889 Evel Knievel lives in the Tampa Bay area. A friend bought his Zimmer a couple years ago and it needed alot of work. I just have one question in reference to the sellers comments. They say, "Our winning bid for the car was approx 30K in mid 90's. Believe that after 911 that should be worth today at least 60% of our bid to be successful." I don't understand what they are trying to say. Do they want at least 60% of the 30K that they paid (got ripped off, IMO) for the car? Looks Corvette-ish to me.Vicky Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/12663-evel-eagle-240z/#findComment-88889 Share on other sites
July 26, 200420 yr comment_88904 i think it means 30k should be 60% of what its worth today... or an easier way to say it is they are saying their reserve is somewhere around the 50k mark. July 26, 200420 yr comment_88905 Oh yes, now I understand. Brain was a little slow this a.m. when I read their sales pitch. I don't understand what they are trying to say. Do they want at least 60% of the 30K that they paid (got ripped off, IMO) for the car? I think they're simply admitting that the market value for such a car has gone down. I would agree with that assessment. July 26, 200420 yr comment_88915 I agree with Mike. Prices for many/most collectables dropped like a rock when the economy fell in the toilet at the turn of the century. IMO they overpaid for it anyway.Wish I could find the thread where the auction for this beast was discussed last time it hit the market. Didn't sell then, doubt it'll sell this time either Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/12663-evel-eagle-240z/#findComment-88915 Share on other sites

July 26, 200420 yr comment_88935 Hi Wayne; Yeah, it was in 2002 that we discussed it. I seem to recall that it was determined that this was a 280Z chassis, but a search using "Evel Knievel", "Evel Eagle", or just "Knievel" turns up nothing. I missed the auction listing earlier this month. Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/12663-evel-eagle-240z/#findComment-88935 Share on other sites

July 26, 200420 yr comment_88947 It took me a while but I see the top has been chopped. It really does look like a Corvette that way. I would say they were trying to make it look like a Vette for whatever reason.
