Does anyone have advice for having a car hauled? Who do you use? How can it be done most economically? I'm thinking of having a non operating car hauled down the east coast to Florida.

I'm thinking about it...4 days left to make up my mind. How did I know you would jump at this thread, Vicky? So far, its $800 Dover, Delaware to Sarasota. Can I do any better? The car is non-operable.

If Scott and I weren't so busy with work, I'd take a road trip to get your car. We have a dually and a 24ft enclosed car hauler. Have you thought about renting a truck and open trailer from some place like U-Haul?

I was in Vegas this past weekend and I went to the Imperial Palace Hotel/Casino car museum. What a museum it was because there was all sorts of great cars. This 27thZ reminds of one car at the museum. It was an older english car from the 40's and it had been sitting in a barn for 47 years. It was beyond restoration, but a man came across the car and restored it to its former glory after putting 300,000 USD into a car that was worth 120,000 USD. It may seem foolish of him, but he saved a car that would have gone to the crusher if it had been in the hands of most people. It would have been lost history there.

Save this Zed from the crusher Chris. You have a great heart and this car is a piece of history that should be remembered much more than for its vin's and extra cool early parts.

:lick: Ya'll crack me up. All I did was call the seller and talk to him about the car. The next step is to find out how much it is going to cost me to get it here. You have to figure shipping as part of the sale price. I still stand by what I said earlier. The car needs a lot of help. I have spares of most of the parts it needs; the car needs me more than I need the car!

Somebody talk to me about hauling for cheap!!!! I quickly phoned 3 quotes this afternoon for around $800. Gotta do better than that. I don't need an enclosed trailer, but the thing is DEAD - called "Inoperable" - and they don't like that. I was really hoping it would not be much over $500. I might be able to go get it myself for that if it were not the time.

So, if I get 27, a lot of little tumblers need to fall in place, like, "I have most of the major parts missing". We'll see. I have a budget in mind and a few days. It would be cool.

Get a 'tag-team' of East Coast Z'ers to inaugurate a 'tow-the-Z relay'

Seriously, if you are towing it yourself and crossing the Bay-Bridge tunnel, the tolls increased last month or so, now it's up to $12 one way or $17 for a 24-hour return trip.

Yeah, I know that's chump change, but if you get a chance, stop on in. Beer is always cold.

Haulers usually charge more for the non-operable cars. If you are going to part it, best to rent a u-haul.

I think maybe hauling it yourself would be cheaper IF you have the time. I think hauling an inoperable car would be some special service since most of the standard car haulers move cars off and on at each stop to get certain cars out and shuffle the remaining ones around.

You would think that the Uhaul would be cheaper than a car hauler service. I priced that once from denver col. to char nc. The car hauler was LOTS cheaper. If the car runs so it can be driven on the truck its cheaper also. The railroad hauls car from up north to Fla.all the time.Get the yellow pages and "go fish"
