datsun projects website

I just purchased my own domain which I will use to host my datsun project webpages (my '72 240Z, '79 210 and my paintcode project). I'm also interested in hosting a few other members' projects if anyone is interested. There will be no ads or pop-ups or any of that crap because the site will be hosted by a friend of mine, but if the bandwidth gets too high there will be a monthly fee incurred, probably in the range of 10$ per month or so (not each, but for the entire site). If anyone is interested in setting up a project on this site let me know. I may even cover the monthly charge myself - which may be something on the order of treating my friend to lunch once a month :). I would prefer to host projects that are updated frequently like mine (ok though I'm not making any progress right now - shut up). ALso I would prefer no high bandwidth junk like music or large off-topic files, but there is plenty of space for all thepictures you can take. So if you're interested drop me a PM or email, or reply here. By the way, when the DNS is set up it'll be at www.datsunprojects.org.

Hey Brandon, mperdue here (my "real" account doesn't work). Thanks for the comments. No one has shown interest yet but it doesn't make much difference to me. Probably one of the largest barriers to setting up a site like this for most people is doing the page design itself - though if you keep it simple and plain like me it doesn't take much - updates are cut and paste with new text and pics. But anyway at this point I can't help too much with that besides telling users how to log in, edit/upload etc - plus my html "skillz" have much room for improvement.

One neat thing about the site is that it's simple to set up a web accessible email account for the domain such as joeblow@datsunprojects.org for other users. Nice interface - much more flexible than hotmail or yahoo IMO.

For those of you who might be intimidated by building a website. It's quite simple. That is if all you want is just text and pictures.

There are 2 good programs for simply HTML.

1) Microsoft Front page (I use frontpage 2002)

2) Macromedia Dreamweaver (any version should work)

Aside from the Z, I know nothing further than making a black and white page with pictures.
