hey all i do need help but with finding performance parts for my z its a 71' 240z who makes good header, downpipes and exaust also who makes good clutches(triple plated stage 3) and lightened flywheels? ive heard that you can put a 300zx 5speed turbo tranny on the z. and that they are better then a regular tranny because they are really beefy

Well, as for the parts take a look at www.strictlyz.com, www.zparts.com for a catalog, zparts.com there are many suppliers where you can find the parts you are looking for. Many of them are listed in the web-links here.

The only way to use a 300ZX transmission would be to use a 300ZX motor, they are not compatible with the inline six. A 280ZX transmission will work with little trouble though.

The best header you can buy is from Jeff Winter at rallye/sport in Westminster, CO. It costs about $450 but has underwent a ton of dyno testing to make sure it is the best. It has a heavy flange and the tubes are stepped larger as they get further from the head. This makes sure that the expanding gases don't get sucked back into the head. Jeff has some statistics on how much better these are than any others, even Nissan Performance. It is a three-into-two design. Terminates with 2 2-1/2" tubes that can be collected using a flow-master Y-connector that can be welded onto a straight 3" pipe. Jeff recommends running a Flowmaster muffler at the end. Also, make sure to run about 9" of pipe behind the muffler. This adds a bit more power by smoothing out the exhaust as it exists the system.

Jeff has been racing 240s and 510s for probably 30 years and has build some of the fastest in the states. He is great to work with too!

Jeff can be reached at 303.427.0510 and his address is:

There has been a rash of the Fidanza flywheels for sale on Ebay as of late. I bought one and must say they are a beautiful unit. I plan on running the Centerforce Dual Friction unit on the flywheel.

I did call Fidanza and they rate their flywheels for use with any clutch material including sintered metal.
