4 Sale AGAIN

26th-Z

Recommended Posts

Not exactly. As I understand it, Burt withdrew the car before the end of the auction last time. I don't know any of the current bidders off hand.

I had figured that if "I" was to decide to sell the car, after having cancelled a previous pending sale, I'd first offer it to the same guy since (as the story was told) He wanted it, and I had liked is offer. Rather than deal with eBay again (saving the commission, hassles, etc).

I thought of the very same thing Carl. Maybe he never bothered to keep his information of the previous ebay bidder ID, which I believe still goes away after 30 days. Maybe he thought that the car, with it's provenance in the Z community, wouldn't need any help?

Anybody besides me want to wager that when it doesn't bring any more bids or get to the magic $30,000 mark that the auction will be pulled again? I do not personally know the seller or have ever seen this car in person, so this is in no way an attack on the owner whatsoever.

Obviously this is one of the "known" premier original low miles Z's in the country, and while it's true value can be debated all day long, I too believe that a lot of the value is in the low miles and that the new owner will be purchasing a car that may end up being trailered to shows and subsequently driven very little, as it has been to date, resulting in bragging rights to owning one of the nicest low mile cars in existence. With miles come stone chips, everyday wear, and other maintenance issues.

In my opinion, this is one of those pieces of rolling art that because of it's value cannot truly be enjoyed by it's owner as it was originally intended to be, for the reasons listed above. Not that there's anything wrong with that.

High bid is currently $24,100.00

:classic:

Do any of you guys know the seller?

Maybe this is his way of getting stroked!!

He sits around saying "Everybody wants what I have and look what they're willing to pay".

I know of him. Burt Diamond is his name. Never met him, but I have in the past corresponded with him. He seemed like a nice guy, and didn't give the impression of a person who needed to be stroked. I believe (from what 26th-Z has told us about the previous offer to sell) that Burt is conflicted about wanted to keep the car to enjoy himself, and thinking that maybe he should sell it to someone who could enjoy it more than he can.

I think I too would be hard pressed to sell a car in such condition, so I understand about the conflict in selling.

It's just that I have a friend that used his stuff as a validation of his worth or stature.

Good guy and all that, just looked at things in a different manner.
