Toyota Brake conversion details

I did this conversion. I just finished a second track track day on them and the prerformance is FANTASTIC!!!!

To answer you questions: You can use the stock metal lines, if you bend them VERY carefully. You could use the stock rubber hoses, but why??? You must be doing the conversion to get better brakes. Braided hoses eliminate the expansion possible in rubber hoses. MSA has Earl's braided hose for only about $70-80 which about as cheap as anywhere I have seen.

The vented rotor calipers are very wide. Slotted mags won't fit. Also, if you have 15" of larger wheels, the diameter should be fine. It's the configuration of the center portion of thewheel that you could have problems with. I was going to use an Enkei style mesh wheel, which has a very flat center. The wheel snugged right up against the caliper to the point that the car would not move. I put on a set of Panasports, which bow out away from the center of the wheel and they cleared the calipers great.

I recommend the JSK Innovations spacer. It is a quality made piece. Check their website for current prices. You will also need to trim the rotor splash guard to make the calipers fit.

As someone mentioned, you need longer bolts to hold the hubs on. Make sure you use 10.9 grade, hardened bolts!

Good luck with them.

Guys, I have the Nismo FIA calipers with 300zx rotors - I believe these caliper units might have been from a Price Gloria? Does any one know? You can still purchase these units from Nissan Motorsport part # 41000-E7201 and 41010-E7201.

There were originally 2 FIA setup available vented and non vented. The non vented used standard rotors and the caliper listed above. The vented units used a special rotor to be used with 240Z hubs (used to cost $350 USD each rotor I know because I did price these up at one point. Spec were 271mm x 20mm. 300zx rotors are 274mm x 22mm so I like many are using these with a spacer). The vented calipers were the same solid rotors but with a small spacer between each half (I again know this as I have had one of each set).

I did purchase a number of seal kits and new pistons from Nissan Motorsport some years ago (I know the pistons are still available not sure about the seal kits). So does anyone know if these are the same units as the Toyota Calipers? It is very unlike a Japanese car manufacture to have a single custom calliper for one application – they usually reuse the same part on a different model/make. Can't post photo of the units as they in the roof of my parents house (along with most of my Z....long story involves living in a different country for a few years yada yada)
