Posted August 14, 200420 yr comment_91144 Just wondering if there is anywhere on this site/forum where someone has written something like a diary explaining the process they took doing up their Zed. I tried to look but couldn't find a single thread or page where someone's written it all from start to finish. Is there one on here? If so what do i search for? And is there any anyone else knows about on other sites? Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/12862-doing-up-a-zed/ Share on other sites
August 14, 200420 yr comment_91146 Your best bet is to buy a book covering the restoration process. There are plenty on the market, ebay is your best bet, people have them up for auction all the time. Iam in the process of restoring a 240z. Iam a fair way through it, if would like any help, pointers etc, just pm me or send an email. cheers. August 17, 200420 yr comment_91526 I have a couple of manuals, but I think the best one for what you are after is "How to Restore your Datsun Z car" by Wick Humble. It's probably best used in conjunction with a sevice type manual though (haynes, factory). It covers pretty much everything and I got it ordered through Dymocks (spelling) for $42. August 17, 200420 yr comment_91534 Well I maybe alone here but I have only found limited use with the Humble book while restoring my Z. I guess my complaints are mainly based around his use of part names that I don't know and accompanying them with grainy B&W close-up photos that are hard to see. The most valuable part of the book I found is the exploding diagrams in the back.I have also bought the "How to rebuild your L series motor" which is from the same publisher and, oddly enough, have found that to be great.I understand the service manual is pretty handy, FWIW I would advise you to get that before the Humble book.
