Hi all,

I've been working on a few new mods to the site. They are both related to chatting and shouting. For instance, all of you should see a new shout-box on the front page. This is something I just put online today. I am looking to remove the date/time from the shouts so we can have more room for text.

The 2nd new addition is a chat room. Registered users can access this from the left menu. Right now the chat room requires registration. This means that you will need to register separately and verify the account via email. For now, this is the best I could do considering I don't know how to pass your current username to the chat system. I've asked for some help on this with my coding buddies. But, if you do register separately, keep your username the same because it will make things easier for you to remember. The chat room is working well and I've had some fun with it already.

That should be it, let me know what you think of these two new additions.

Mike:

Tried to find the website development forum and don't know which one of the existing forums to search.

Here's what I think is a bug:

When you click on the More... at the bottom right of the post listing at the bottom of the first page, it takes you to a list of all posts going back several pages. I've noticed that some of the post are not highlighted in blue, but instead are in black. Sometimes bold, sometimes not. In either case, you can't click on the post, nor access it other than by using the Last Post button, which unfortunately, if you haven't done my other trick of refresh and horizontal slide to the right, you cannot see.

Speaking of the Left Menu....

Mine always says:

You last visited on at

0, Total 0.

Should there be more? what do the zeros mean?

thx

They indicate private messages. Unread and total. The 'you last visited on at' only seems to show the time and date on the front page. For some reason its blank when you're in the threads.

Or register using someone else's user name and have some real fun! ROFL

Mike, Can you just use a cron job to copy the username and encryped passwords to the chat system database? It could fire off once a day to add the new members.

Ideally the best way would make the chat software use the forums user table, but the cron job would be a good workaround.
