I am wondering if I can still get my hands on one of these kits.

I think a white color kit would look great on a red 240z. It's also something I've never seen anyone in Australia with a Z have. I am looking to be different and I think this is the ticket.

LOL

Sorry Gav, I've seen a 240z here in perth with those stripes. I hear it belongs to an old guy that has had it from new. He carries a big stick beat off all the people that keep asking to buy it off him LOL . He's not at all interested in selling it......or so i hear.

It an orange one.

That's cool no harm done. I just haven't seen any around Victoria or most of Australia with it anyway. The best part is how cheap MSA are selling them I am definately considering it even just to get an idea of how it would look up close.

I know of the car your talking about he's a member at the NDSOC and he lives in victoria. We need to get him to join in at VicZcar aswell. That's a truly awesome looking Z. The engine bay is also a work of art and judging from the photos I'd say it really moves. :smoke: .

Interesting and well spotted. To be honest I prefer the MSA one it's a little more Mustang like. The photoshop job I did , I actually took the side stripe off the member Kats car and I would have thought he'd do his research and make sure he has the correct 1 if you know the member Kats and his car?

Thanks for pointing it out but at $20 a set I think I'll probably give them a go :)

Hey Gavin,

If you have a look at some of the pictures from the Motorman NZ atricle I posted a while back, you may be interested to note that the 2 Z cars in the article have side stripes, identical and neither have 240Z inside them at all, they're just two stripes that run in behind the "DATSUN" front quarter badge.

Something to take into consideration perhaps?? Also you'll possibly be able to actually buy a couple of metres of pinstriping in those two sizes for less than $20 from a local signwriter.

Hey Michael thanks for posting that interesting indeed. I'd say that this is because the stripe is a dealer option and not a factory option and therefore they have varied styles. Personally I like the one that says 240z that MSA sell I think that is the look i like most but I'm not overly fussed. Your probably right i could get them cheaper than $20 but creating the 240z would be the challenge and for $27 AUD it's not a huge deal for something I'd like to try out. I was thinking of creating it in sticky tape first just to get the idea of how it would look.

I've just seen a few older cars lately with the original paint scheme's and sticker jobs like this and been inspired. :)

Yeah, being a dealer option it will obviously vary, and thusly if you want to be period and location correct, why would you put a LHD dealer option pinstriping on a RHD Z car? Perhaps that's another thing to take into consideration. Maybe?

Check out this attachment Alan T posted on another topic:

See anything familiar? 2nd row 4th down looks to me like the sidestripe was an option in Japan - noticeably a different pattern to any that have been shown here so far (looks to me like a thick stripe and a thin one above it). Maybe Alan could clarify?

FWIW
