We were aiming to have something to announce at the ZCCA convention in Cleveland, but due to technical difficulties, it has been postoned. One trip to Ohio will have the lenses ready for production, the trim rings are the hold up, I am still working on an agreement with a company in Vietnam to to reproduce a good many stainless steel parts for S30s-we have been negotiation for over a year-I am looking for another company as well, so hopefully something will give soon. I want to sell them as reasonabley as possible, but I don't want to go broke either.

I bought a set of the reproduction covers off EBay. There is one problem I found, They don't fit too well. The bottom outside hole misses. Setting them on the car they fit flush, but the bottom hole was too high. There is really no way the make it fit. To back up that I really had a fit problem, I also had a set or OEM rings. I popped out the lenses an installed them in the OEM rings and well it's a perfect fit. I did not have to bend, stretch, or massage them. So be careful on what you buy.

do you have any pictures to show the quality and fit? I like the price!:classic:

I had an opportunity to look at the after market covers just few weeks ago.

Very disappointing. Problems are followings:

1. Chrome trim is made very poorly. The shape of the trim is very thin, wavy and bumpy. Almost look plastic. As someone mentioned already, they NEVER FIT right.

2. Plastic lense is OK, but not as good as 35 year old original ones. Besides, they do not fit an original frame. I was going to buy them just for the replacement lense's sake. Nop! They do not fit at all(length witdh, shape)

3. It does not come with hardware. Original hardware set is 5 brackets on each side on regular nose, while 6 brackets on G-Nose set up.

I have few photo of my brand new covers, brakets, and instruction.

Brackets can be made as I tried one in the picture. You buy $1.5 1 inch width bracket and drille 3 holes. Then tap the middle one.By the way, there are wood screws to hold on the brackets, and round head bolts hold the covers. Screws are cad. plates and bolts are not chrome. This optional headlight covers came out around mid 72 when they started putting metal headlight buckets. So it makes sense. If you screw directly through fiber glass ones, they will not last!

My impression is that I do not mind spending $400 for a better quality ones than wasting money for a $25 look products.

That's a bummer, especially the part about the reproduction lenses as I have two oem rings, but need a driver's side lens. I was hoping to get a replacement lens or both lenses, to complete my set. I'd just go for the one side, but was afraid the old lens and new one wouldn't match - clarity wise, now it just sounds like they don't fit well. Gary D.
