Help! cleaning fuel lines.

Check the tank or have it checked at a shop. There are baffles in the tank on a fuel injected car that can trap all kinds of crud build-up that forms while the car is sitting. You can clean fuel lines, replace fuel filters, etc. all day long. If your tank is bad, you'll keep pulling this $hit into the rest of your fuel system. Trust me, been there done that.

I remember back, when redoing my 1970 tank, I had an intermitant fuel starvation problem, even after I had cleaned the inside of the tank numerous times. I finally went into the tank (with fuel in it) with a flexible bore scope and low and behold there was this little piece of stuff that would drift over the fuel pick-up line and stop the flow. Now removing the piece of stuff was another issue since the tank was installed. Oh well, live and learn.

And a f.i. tank is more complicated. It can't be cleaned by just putting some kind of solution in it. The longer it sits the worse it gets. It either has to be professionally cleaned (i.e. opened up, cleaned and rewelded) or replaced. There are no short cuts here. I seem to remember mentioning that to Datsun-Fever way back when he first got the car.

Check Yellow Pages. Full Service Radiator Shops clean and repair gas tanks.

Does anyone know if the Z's Fuel line has a 1 way valve or somthing other than build up that could be preventing air from going through the line? i just want to make sure before i take my fuel line out. Thanks.
