Window channel felt

Bruce, I am all for supporting local business, but really what’s the difference if he orders the channel for you from a catalog, or you order the channel from a catalog? Not really supporting local business at that point wouldn’t you say? And what’s his mark up on that? 5$ maybe, you’re really just wasting the guys time. Walk in to the glass shop, give the owner $5 and walk out, then order from JC Whitney and everybody wins.

Wow, had no idea I could go thru this being so totally fubar. Just called my friend that owns the glass shop, apologized for my business and that I would hence forth and ever more deal with JC whitney who I know values my business. Personally keepint the doors open on a warehouse in Chicago doesn't do anything for me. Helping to keep the lights on in a warehouse in Portland does......

I never thought about going to the local glass place. We have a great glass place in town that my family has done business with throughout the years. I can't even count the number of times the front doors were broken at our old c-store. I guess because I am looking for an automotive application I dismissed a traditional glass place as being an option, and having a known solution from JC Whitney just an online order away stopped me from a local investigation. I like to support local business so I will check it out and maybe save some money altogether. Cali-thanks for answering my question that using the channel throughout the entire length of the window frame is an option.

I would like to thank everyone for the input and information. I wasn't even aware that this was an upgradeable item. We shall all meet someday somewhere and share a pint along with restoration stories.

I TOLD THE COP" I wasn't speeding, I was QUALIFYING!

I went down to the local glass shop in search of the window channel felt. Twin City Glass was very helpful, but they did not have a close enough match. They took my samples into the back and compared it to what they had on hand and came up with something very close but just a little too small. They said they could get it, but it would be too expensive for them to bring in a large roll. I understood that my 15' or so that I need was not a significant enough request for them to justify bringing the channel in and have it sit in their inventory. I didn't get the feeling I was wasting anybody's time and actually gave the cute counter girl something to do for five minutes.

these may be old numbers, but they can cross check for you. JC Whitney - door weatherstrip 13SB2561U comes in 25' lengths When I bought it was $34.99 ea. You need 2

Window channel comes in 8" lengths need one for each door.

$8.00 each 18B4877X

Inner belt weather strip (fuzzy strip for the top of inner door)

19SB3480P for 6' enough for both doors. I paid $15.00 total. I am sure prices are higher now. I installed these parts 6+ Years ago and they are still top notch.

Thanks BeanDip, Appreciate the numbers, got them on file now. Planning on doing those belt strips and doors soon. Nice to be able to solve these problems this easy, just by bull shitting between a couple of guys bored at work.

Warcmamalll whatever unpronounceable stupid name, What'y know, a glass shop couldn’t help....... Hmm...... made a lot of money off ya too. Just like Brucie's buddy. Keep on keeping on for the greater good! **** you guys are unreal with what you read into $^!#. Brucie missed the point entirely, but totally backed me up by saying it was his buddy who owned the shop.

Anyways I am not here to Point fingers, Bruce, Warcmalla, Leftover, just being a wise arse, and trying to keep it real.

Hope I didn’t wizz you guys off too much! ;)

Its been Real, its been Fun, but it hasn’t been Real Fun! Peace

Does anyone know if they still have a weatherstrip profile that will work for the door seals? Their online catalog is pretty useless...
