240SX, Maxima, or 280ZX

What is the better caliper for rear disc conversions? Which is the cheapest? Also, what pads and hardware are needed?

the 280zx and 240sx are the same caliper. i think the maxima is just about the same as well.... as for cheapest, it depends on how you get it.. junkyard would be all the same price. you are going to need just stock pads and you are going to need the rear disc brake bracket from the '83-84 maxima. you will also have to jiri rig the e-brake cable. if i were you i'd get the 15/16 master cylinder from the 280zx.

15/16 Master cylinder...would that have anything to do with brake pressure to front/ back. Will the 280ZX master cylinder fit my '72 240Z firewall? :surprised

it should.... the 15/16" is just the measurement of it.... i have a 72 as well and i plan on putting the 15/16" on... i will let you know how it goes, though.

15/16" is the diameter of the piston inside the m/c. BTW, the change of master cylinder is not "needed", it's just that with bigger wheel cylinders it couldn't hurt to push more fluid with a bigger m/c. The one in a stock 240Z is 7/8" (i.e. 14/16"). Minimal difference.

If you get the M/C make sure its from 79-81 280ZX, the two bolts that holds the M/C to the booster are positioned vertically like the 240Z M/C as opposed to horizontally like the 82 & up 280zx.

i figured that the 15/16 was a piston measurement, but i decided to be vauge so that i wouldn't be wrong! ... anyway, i was just figuring that a full system swap would be a lot more efficient than a piece-meal kinda job
