Hi Guys,

just wondering, is there an easy way to dye plastic light lenses.

in particular i want to dye a clear lens red, and somehow remove the red from a stop lamp to make it clear.

If this can't be done, is it expensive to have some sort of plastics place make up a coloured replica of the lenses?

this probably won't make much sense to the z guys out there, but the 240K guys it will :)

Thanks

Kent

I think your best bet will be to buy some R32 Coupe rear lenses and trimmed and modified to fit your inner lights outer ring and then perhaps a pair of trailer park/reverse lamp lenses cut and modded to fit you inner lights inner ring.

If that makes sense ;) That was my plan anyway, I've already measured the sizes of the 32's tail-lights vs. the C110 and they're pretty much bang on.

On topic of dying light lenses does anyone know if you can clean up old lenses and get them as good as new or do you have to have them redyed as NOS parts are getting very $$$ and European tail lights are very hard to get because all you naughty American's want somthing different ! :)

mother's polishing compound, lots of patients. will make the plastic look good from the outside. smooth and shiny, like new

my son paints warhammer characters from games work shop. they make or sell a red ink. i bought a couple cans of compressed air with a sprayer on it from eastwood ( rattle can, that i can put my own paint in ). haven't done it yet, was thinking that ink might work perfectly.

most paint isn't transcent enough to use on a lens.

but an ink ... that may be the ticket

G'Day there Gavin,

Cleaning up old lenses huh ????

Well, now, I don't know if it would work or not but a very fine abrasive might do the trick and the finest abrasive I know of, believe it or not, is,

TOOTHPASTE. (You might need to use a lot of it).

If you do try it, let me know huh ??????

Rick.
