August 24, 200420 yr comment_92437 Apparently there's a HR31 viscous unit for sale on either skylines downunder or skyline australia for bugger all. Pick a viscous unit up cheap then get yourself a mechanical center? August 24, 200420 yr Author comment_92519 I havent seen that on SAU, but wouldnt it be just as easy to fit a mechanical centre into an OEM open diff?Ideally I would just like a complete unit to save on any potential mismatch problems.I have got in touch with a few wreckers and there seems to be not a lot around.Anyone got a detailed listing fo what cars they are found in?Import R31?Import/Local Z31? August 25, 200420 yr comment_92570 Depends what diff, you have/ planning on using. If you are going for an R200, then any skyline(R31 onwards-import, not local)/silvia/300zx will have a nice r200 LSD that could be used in ur zed. August 25, 200420 yr comment_92571 Ripper: AFAIK the R32 onwards and the s13 on wards use the short nose R200 which isn't directly interchangable. HR31 is definitely ok, not sure about the Z31s. Z32s are definitely out being an R230.Oh, and long and short nose R200 centers are not directly interchangable either. August 25, 200420 yr comment_92579 No HR31's should be fine, definetely not aussie ones, they use live rear axle. Yes Z31s should work, although they have a strange LSD, wouldn't recommend them. I have seen a few z32's with R200, and as far as I know, all of them used them (could be wrong). the R200 is a standard Nissan part, it hardly changed over the years, and was used in all Nissan sports cars from early to mid 80's to present. August 25, 200420 yr comment_92582 The HR31 is the japanese spec R31, which had the R200. I'm 99.9% sure all the Z32s had the R230, however I have also seen a few with a R200 swapped in. I assume this is due to a larger choice of LSD centers. From what I've been told, it's some of the bolt spacing on the LSD centers that differs between the long and short nose R200s. August 25, 200420 yr comment_92601 Nissan clutch pack LSD's are Nismo parts and usually big bickies $1200 - $2000 with decent ratios.Tried Datrats?I do know some other alternatives if you can't get a clutch LSDSteve Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/12974-source-for-clutch-lsds/#findComment-92601 Share on other sites
August 25, 200420 yr Author comment_92698 Alternatives? Yes, datrats think they can source one but at the higher end of your price scale. I am speaking with a friend of mine who is dabbling in importing to see what i can find. August 26, 200420 yr Author comment_92748 I guess the next question is, what is a reasonable "street" price for a decent ratio LSD, say a 3.9. Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/12974-source-for-clutch-lsds/#findComment-92748 Share on other sites
August 29, 200420 yr Author comment_93157 Sorry guys, could I ask again what is a reasonable price for a 3.9?There isnt enough of a supply to gauge an average price.
