Hi,

I've seen a 240Z with a vinyl roof getting around Newcastle, Australia, years ago, it was a dark metalic blue z with a white or cream vinyl roof and mini-light copy wheels. I thought that it was very unusual.

Since this post covers all the accessories, we will soon be inundated with a long and jumbled series of replies.

As a title of your post, let's start putting the Accessorie Number and Name. Nothing else, not Re:...., just numb and name. In this manner it will be easier to trace a particular discussion. If you're investigating the Fog Lamps the last thing you want is to be sidetracked onto Passing Light. Especially when you are trying to find a specific post.

In the case of discussing 2 or more accessories, put a separate and spaced out line with the text as it would be in the title line. That way a search can still be made for your material. Then YOU be the judge as to what accessorie it best applies to.

The more people do this the better for all, especially if we are hoping to "write" a discussion to be referenced later by us and others.

It would make more sense to only discuss 1 accessory per thread, else it will become a dog's breakfast...

Is there anyway of determining if there is any kind of writing on the light stalk that would indicate how to actuate it?

I'm interested in also finding out about the wiring circuitry. Whether inherent in the existing harness or additional harness or even a swapped out harness. Wiring schematics would be sufficient.

Additionally; anyone have one of these stalks that does click fore and aft?

I enlarged the picture even more and although most detail fades out, it appears that there may be a button on the end of the stalk. In there an engraved light symbol.

Any thoughts anyone?

I couldn't understand why the DM would have a seperate swich...

Now I can place it all.

The button on the end only had a white "dot" on the end...

This car with a vinyl top has been listed by KSLS94 several times on this site. You can see it at http://www.classiczcars.com/photopost/showphoto.php?photo=8039&sort=1&cat=500&page=1 Didn't like vinyl tops in the 1970s and they really don't belong on a Z IMHO. But thought those who have never seen one would like to see a few pictures. Gary

Thanks for that!! So the vinyl only went up half the roof.... like those old Oldsmobiles and Caddies... No wonder it is rare.

That half-vinyl roof must be aftermarket, as the Nissan one covered the whole roof.

As Zedrally pointed out, there's just a white dot on knob - no symbol ( it would be too small, I'd have thought ).

The Option picture is portraying the push-knob on the end of the stalk only ( not the pull-back function which switches from Main Beam to Dipped Beam on the headlamps and back again - which I believe all the cars had? ). The S30-S Fairlady Z ( the 'basic' no-frills model ) didn't have the little knob on the stalk because this function was one of the things that model was missing as Standard Equipment. It still had the pull-back function of the stalk, and of course the Turn Signal Indicator switch function.

I have genuine Nissan wiring diagrams for all the early Japanese-market models, but they won't fit on my scanner in one piece ( too big ). Would a scan of a particular section be of any use?
