i have a 73 240z and i have seen alot of chats about converting the caliper, rotors and drums with toyota and new nisson parts. if i am not using the car for racing is this something i really need to worry about. i mean what advantage do i have by doing this. also would i have to get new rims if i upgrade?

Probably not something you need to worry about if you don't need maximum braking. Stock calipers are 2 piston units, Toyota calipers are 4 piston units. Larger pad surface area, and more "grab" power. As for wheels, it depends on size of your current wheels, and whether you go with vented rotors or stick w/ stock rotors. AFAIK.

The braking power of a stock Z is just fine. It's not just about racing, if you plan on adding more power than upgrading your brakes wouldn't be a bad idea. If your car is stock and you don't plan any major hp upgrades, leave the breaks alone. Unless of coarse you are going for looks.

as long as all four of your wheels lock up when slamming on your brakes, it doesnt really matter. it would be cool though if you could install an abs system. z's could definatly use that, especially in the rain. i was only a couple feet from having to change my username to "Lassykiller280" a couple days ago

personally I am all for better brakes, but if your system works perfectly , no leaks or air loss from booster and such they will work good but the diffrence if you drove one with the toyota set up as opposed to stock is pretty big. driven both, love the 4 piston front and the 240sx rears setup best

i am rebuilding the engine most likely upgrading some older parts to increase horse power, but nothing like installing a v8. i just bought new rims 17x7 from ebay. their the Konig Imagine Opal Wheel that zstore sell with honda adapter. so with this information by going to 240sx rears i can keep my same rims. correct??
