Why is it the image gallery is full of images that are not Z related, (ok maybe full is an overstatment)

They arent even Japanese, or related to the S30 z in anyway.

If I wanted to see pictures of Volvos (yeah right) i'd go to a volvo site, not a z site.

I'm sure Mike doesnt like all the disc space that he has to pay for, and bandwith taken, for people to look at these photos of volvos. :sick:

I'm sure if people started posting stories bout their volvos and corvettes, they would politely be asked to take it to another forum, so why is it ok to post pictures of them.

Can the Photo moderaters be a bit more discerning? Shouldn't they be rejecting pictures like this?

Carl is right. I was being very sarcastic. That laundry list I gave is just some of the stuff in galleries put here most of which was before I got here.

I am little bad with words at the moment, but I think both sides of the spectrum are taking this the wrong way here. I am not siding with anyone, and I am not disagreeing with anyone. You all have valid points. I just think that many of you are looking at this non-Zcar picture stuff and threads that do not pertain to our cars the wrong way.

People keep saying that this site is going to be another Zcar.com and I really don't know what went on there simply because I have been on it very little. When I was looking for information on Zcar.com it was hard to find, and why go there when there is a VAST amount of information here. I understand some of worry that some of you have about this forum going the wrong way, but I don't think it is going to happen. (My biggest fear for this site would be if it included any other Z besides the S30.) When things have gone too far, they have been taken care of. We may not always agree with it, but it was done to keep the site true to its purpose.

The moderators of this site have and do work hard to keep this site in the right direction, so a little bit of off topic stuff is not going to effect anything. I post pictures/threads of places that I have been and I try to keep them car oriented for the most part, as Greyghost has. I am pretty sure that he posts those pictures to share something that he thinks we would all enjoy.

The pictures of Le Mans Audi's, funny cats, Celica's, and women in little to almost no clothing with beautiful cars :stupid: do not bother me, it is threads like this. I hope we can all use our thoughts of uncertainty on the direction of the forum to come up with ways to keep this forum a better place and one that accepts and enjoys things that are off topic every now and then. It is a ClassicZcars site, but many of us are friends, even if it is just through posting cool pictures, or ones to ignore. That goes for off topic threads too.

I think we should make a new thread on what can be done to keep these off topics, yet have them seperated like a 240k forum, but still connected. I hope I am helping and not making things worse. I really think we can eventually all be happy about this. I hope no one leaves this forum either. If anyone thinks we should make a new thread, I will start it.

FYI I didnt go searching got pictures of non z content, they were plastered all over the home page as "Latest Gallery Images", so ther was no chance of avoiding them.

I think Mike needs to add a paragraph to the image uploads page with his policy on uploads so everyone knows what they should or shouldnd be uploading.

Hmm maybe a poll is in order.

Looks like most people are in favour of posting any photos you want on here.

So I expect no crap when I post pitcures thate arent z related.

Better not look in my gallery, theres a rusty 260z in it. oh but wait, a 260z is an S30 isnt it.

Am I too late to give my 2 cents? I appreciate all quality cars, especially vintage and racing. I have not been able to get to Road America this year because of my father passing away and family visiting from Cancun. BUT, good member greyghost has helped to fill that void by posting some great shots from RA. Lucky bastard lives about 5 minutes away (vs my 7 hours).

Photos of pets, wives, girlfriends don't bother me because they all help to paint a picture of who our members are. Aren't we here as a community of Z lovers? The key word is "community", not "Z"!

If we want to address "hogging" disk space, infringing on others sensibilities, etc., then maybe we would also have to address people that upload 40 pictures at a time (even if they are "pure") and 15 shots of the same rust spot (can never get to many of those).

I once posted a picture of a babe washing a 350Z, got lots of comments. Eventually I decided to delete the picture to clean up my gallery.

Now thats and idea, why don't we let members police themselves. Could work, unless some non-site owner/manager believes they are more capabile ("all pigs are created equal, but some are more equal than others" Animal Farm) than their comrades.

And what about those of us that live thousands of miles away from any racing course? We like to see races and cars to. Are we not intitled to?

Please, take a look at your posts a couple of days after you post, and see if the subject is really worth all of that anger and energy. I see enough great info, and enthusiasm on the Z front here to make wading through a little junk a small price to pay. I would prefer to have less of it, but I am not going to quit coming here because of having to watch where I step any more than I will quit going to ebay because some guy keeps advertising crap that doesn't belong on an S30 in the 240Z serach results.

That Diamond in the rough,whether it is a mint set of dash vents or advice about wheel bearings, is worth the search here or ebay.

Remeber if everybody was just like you, even with company, you would be alone.

Will, I don't know if you aimed that comment at anyone in particular but it really doesn't matter, it's the best thing that has been said throughout this whole thread. I have scaled back my responses in areas that indicate attitude or opinion because I realize that this site is here for me but it's not designed primarily to appease my attidues, opinions, political feelings, etc. It was not made for me. If people want to leave because the don't like what they find here, that's their right. If they want to skip over what doesn't please or interest them, that is also their right. If the want to give opinions, that too is their right. It is not their right to force their opinion on others here. The moderators have a tough job here. I couldn't be one because I would have deleted so much of the stuff I read here because, in my opinion, it's not relevant. I don't mean the non-Z related pictures I mean the response to them. Individuals cannot determine what's best for all. I laugh at people threatening to leave because they don't like what they see here. If you feel that way, do it! Your choice. I find it both amusing and sad that there is so much personal attacking going on here. How is this site not different from the others in that respect? I choose to stay here because I get a lot of useful information here. Sometimes I have to go through a lot of useless information to get to it (like this thread) but that is why I come here.

I didnt mean that to go to anyone spacifically. Just the wining bunch of peaple that wont stop complaning about everything this site and the peaple in it do.

Bill, I addressed that to Will. But what I said goes for all of us. Come here for what you are looking for and do your best to ignore what you're not. There's more 'whine' here than in the Northern California vineyards! I'm with you Bill, I'm done with this one too!

Some folks act like being "forced" to view a Non-Z photo in an public Internet forum is like discovering that someone broke into your home and put a turd on your favorite EZ chair.
