Posted September 3, 200420 yr comment_93718 I have 2 44pph Mikunis...and they have the: the emulsion tube is #8 the botton tip on the tube is #165 the tube cap on top is #210 and the smaller jet in the corner is #57.5 the Tube inside the Emulsion tube is M the jet on the bottom of the E-tube is #57.5 The Ventury is a #34 I need.....: the emulsion tube is #OE the botton tip on the tube is #160,155,150 the tube cap on top is #200 and the smaller jet in the corner is #52.5-55 the Tube inside the Emulsion tube is OE the jet on the bottom of the E-tube is #52.5-55 The Ventury a #37mm or bigger up to 41mm I haven't studied up to much on this, but from what emails I sent to one place....that's what they recommend...so I need them, but I'm a little short on the cash flow to buy them all brand new....I'm still in the testing and tuning area...so the cheaper the better.... Or I will trade the setup that I have for a set(2) of tuned 40-44 Mikuni's or 40-45 Webers....for a high comp 4age...I've already invested to much money into this set-up to trade for crap...so only real offers please. Here's the emails that decided the numbers.... I wrote: DearSir/Maam. I have a 1985 Toyota Corolla RWD AE86 car, that I built the engine for. I used a 7-rib USDM Blue top block and head, but put the JDM high compression Red top internals in it. I should be near 10.3:1 CR. I also have two Mikuni 44pph side draft carbs on the engine. I realized that they may be too big for the motor, but I got a decent deal on them, they work great and run good, after I cleaned them up about 5 times and rebuilt them. But they just will not run properly on the engine. After playing around with them for a month, I ran into a gentleman that said that the carbs are fine for the size of the engine, and they just flow too much fuel with the mains that I have. After I took them apart, I noted all the little numbers on the parts. the emulsion tube is #8 the botton tip on the tube is #165 the tube cap on top is #210 and the smaller jet in the corner is #57.5 the Tube inside the Emulsion tube is M the jet on the bottom of the E-tube is #57.5 The Ventury is a #34 Does this sound right for a 1.6 liter High comp 4 cylinder engine. I am trying to set the car up to run and make good power at 5,500-7,000 RPM, for drifting and autocross. And any suggestion on my next size or sizes down or up, and if you have them in stock or can get them, and send them as soon as possible, would be appreciated. Thank for your time. Clayton Pace. And the Return E-mail : Clayton, You are close but based on the Mikuni Manual and your setup and usage, I suggest you do 2 things before you rejet, 1.) change the e-tube (actually called jet block ) to the OA Jet block. This is what is normally used for a performance application in the 44's. It has better fuel flow and transition characteristics. 2.) Your venturi size @ 34mm is too small for the top end. You need at least 37mm. You won't sacrifice any mid-range with this and you will open up the top end to breathe better. Our 1.6 liter GT4 motors actually run 41mm venturis but we redline @ 8600R's. The bottom tip is the fuel jet. @ 165, you might be a bit too fat but you will need to read your plugs to be sure. You should have 160,155,150 for tuning purposes. The jet on top is the air jet, you should probably be running a 200 there. The other jet is the pilot jet. You have 57.5 and the book recommends a 52.5 for stock application. 55 is probably just about right. All parts mentioned are in stock. Prices follow; Jet blocks $22.95 each 37mm Venturis $15 each Fuel, air, pilot jets $4.50 each Mikuni Tuning and service manual $10 Depending on numbers of jets and other items, we can probably make you a package deal and throw in a copy of the Manual. Shipping is $5 bucks. Paypal to this e-mail addy is fine. Let us know what we can do to help you out. Thanks, Todd Walrich I'm in CT, so if your in the area and have anything, you can come and help me swap around with on these carbs...all the help and parts will be appreciated Thanks In Advance Airjockie Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/13108-mikuni-jets-and-venturis-fstradewtb/ Share on other sites
September 21, 200420 yr comment_95879 Are you frickin stoned? Buy the stuff from Todd. End of story. He's the best there is. Oh Oh Oh...I'm sorry. Sure. I'll trade you 6 OA blocks for your two "8"'s. How's that sound? Oh and while you're at it, throw your bottom tip 165's in the bag and I'll send you some 155 fuel jets to make your little 4-banger not cough. Shoot, throw those 210 top tubes in and I'll send you a some 185 air jets. Deal? September 21, 200420 yr Author comment_95905 I'm sure Todd is the best there is...that's why I e-mailed him... :classic: IF your offer is serious...then I will do the trade.... But I don't need 6 blocks...just 4 and not 2 :stupid: I was short on cash at the time I wrote this post...now I can fully afford the items from Todd, but then if I did buy them...then I would have extra's laying around collecting dust, or find their way into the massive piles of spare parts that I never sort or clean-up any more. If this trade can help you and me out with some minor problems, then I'm all for it. If I can get this car to at least run decently, and get me in the area that I need to be to actually get it nearly tuned....then I'm happy...sorry I don't have the extra 2 sets of jet's/blocks.....it is only a 4 banger. but a little 4 banger that has the possibility to really bang some corners  You wouldn't happen to have any larger venturie's would you? September 22, 200420 yr Author comment_96034 It was an SR5...but I did the full conversion swap to make it a GT-S...took about a year to do....then I wasn't happy with the normal Fuel Injection, so I bought some carbs....and built up the engine. Everything else is completly done...
