September 7, 200420 yr comment_94177 Wow, that looks like more than a weekend worth of work to me. How did you do it?I spent much of yesterday cleaning out the garage so that I could get my daily driver back in behind the 240Z. I had been parking it outside for about the last 6 months. This morning I looked out the window and noticed a huge oak tree limb had fallen exactly where I had been parking. It would have crushed in the roof and/or broken the windshield. Thanks you tropical storm Frances. Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/13156-what-i-did-labor-day-weekend/#findComment-94177 Share on other sites

September 7, 200420 yr comment_94180 Hey Ed that looks great. Can you give us a little info on how you accomplished that? Spent my weekend with family, relaxing in the shade, drinking cold beverages, grilling good food, splashing in the pool. September 7, 200420 yr comment_94181 Oh man! I barely have the patience to bead blast! Thats a good amount of work there. I partied in Port Aransas, beer, margaritas, and sunburn on the beach Sat/Sun , then went home, slept till noon Monday, got up and pulled my Z motor/tranny and tore them down. September 7, 200420 yr comment_94184 Do you take advantage off rouge and cotton wheels, or did you make love to it by hand? Great job, want to do mine? Didn't think so. September 7, 200420 yr comment_94187 Ed, really nice work on the front cover! I'm one of the guys who went for a drive in my Z toy. Early Saturday morning, on one of my favorite sections of blacktop, I came up on a black firebird, just prior to the downhill (lots-o-twisties & smooth pavement) section. As soon as the guy sees my Z he starts to pick up the pace. Well, before we reached the the bottom of the hill, I figured the guys was going to have an off road excursion at any moment. Mind you it was a brisk pace, but nothing I would consider pushing it. Anyway, the guy kept it on the road (my 240 a consistant car length off his butt with ease) and made it to the bottom. I had my little bit of fun, but the guy in the firebird just kept on it all the way in to town....oh well!!! Now I don't advocate playing too hard on the street, but it sure made my day (got my adrenalin fix). What a great way to start out a weekend. Oh! By the way, we were the only two cars on the road. That's how I started my holiday! Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/13156-what-i-did-labor-day-weekend/#findComment-94187 Share on other sites

September 7, 200420 yr comment_94216 Ed,I would have preferred polishing anything rather than dodging falling oak trees, 105 mph winds, neighbor's tree branches, no power for 4 days, cold showers and no car shows on TV. Your engine is going to look great. Good job! September 7, 200420 yr Author comment_94228 Hey, you Florida members, hat's off to ya! I lived in Okinawa for 4 years and we had all kinds of typhoon's. Nothing as bad as this 1-2 ya'll just got (Charlie-Frances).For you people that want to do something like this yourselves do a search and put "rouge" in the query. That's what I did and found lot's of info. For those that don't want to do a search, I started by Glass bead blasting, then I smoothed the surface with 220 grit wet/dry.From there 320 grit. Then 600 grit.Followed by the "red" rouge that I got at Sears Hardware. On a soft cotton wheel. If you guys have the patience I 'm going to post pics of my engine when I'm done (unfortunately this will be a couple of months) :classic: .
