Labor Day weekend? Heyyy nobody told me!!! ROFL

Ed, can you tell me about bead blasting? I assume you need some kind of machine? How much is one of those? Is it messy? I have a fascination with shiny things so this little shiny thing you posted (I dont know what it is... but my engine's probably got one!) got me excited.

Hey Alfadog,

It's Glass bead blasting, other blasting media is too agressive and will destroy your aluminium. You can use a regular "sand blasting cabinet" to do the work just make sure you use Glass bead instead of sand.

If you don't blast the item first you will spend 5X the time cleaning your part. A small cabinet with isn't more than $100 U.S. but then you also need an air compressor.

This Labor Day weekend I prayed I wouldn't lose my house, my life or my Zed's. Never lost any power but it was like being in a coffin with all the windows boarded up. Funny, just the previous weekend we were at a car show under beautiful sunny skys and I got fried from the sun. Anybody in southern Arizona want to trade houses? :P

And I thought I was the only one..

The outlet was done by progressive sanding 120, 220, 400 - then tripoli on a spiral wound buff - finished with white rouge on a pillow buff.

The thremo housing was done with emory on a sisal buff, followed by tripoli on a spiral wound buff - finished with white rouge on a pillow buff.

New temp sender, gland nut and gaskets from MSA, New zinc chromated hardware completes the piece
