Posted September 9, 200420 yr comment_94411 Hi, As you can see from my avatar I own a 2000 N15 SSS Pulsar. However, I stumbled across this forum and Ive always loved the old 240 and 260z's, so I joined up. My parents owned a couple way back when. I remember my friends thinking it was a ferrari Can you guys tell me how much I would expect to pay for a Datsun 240z in fair drive-able condition if I can find one? September 9, 200420 yr comment_94412 Hi Method,Welcome to the club and the forums. How healthy is your wallet?Remember, you get what you pay for... we have some selling for around 15-20K, whilst the bottom end of the market [and requiring work] would be 5K.Not sure if you will find any in Tassie, though. MicksZ is in Tassie, search the profile list and send him PM, else sit back and enjoy as all the Aussie on the list offer their advice..MOM Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/13180-newbie/#findComment-94412 Share on other sites
September 9, 200420 yr comment_94419 Welcome to the club! I am on the wrong side of the pond to give advice on buying a Z in your territory, but there are several members with blood worth bottling in your area to keep you from buying a bondi cigar!I'm sure you'll meet some good cobbers, and find a car that will leave you grinning like a shot fox!Again, Welcome to the club! Will Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/13180-newbie/#findComment-94419 Share on other sites
September 9, 200420 yr comment_94430 Welcome. I bought mine at around the 5k mark.....I recommend you don't! Look at spending 10k+ for a good one. Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/13180-newbie/#findComment-94430 Share on other sites
September 9, 200420 yr comment_94433 Fair, driveable condition I'd pay up to 7000 for. That said, you might have more trouble finding the Z than the money... Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/13180-newbie/#findComment-94433 Share on other sites
September 10, 200420 yr comment_94611 G'Day there method,Now, my estemed collegues have been on about the 240's, as you requested, but you also mentioned the 260 (one of which is the love of my life).Maybe I was just lucky but I bought her from a car yard in Brisbane for just $3500, registered and roadworthy enough to drive her up to Rockhampton C.Q. She's a two seater with matching numbers. We spent April touring Tassie and I only saw one Zed during that time. I reckon you might have to (gasp !!, horror!!), go over to Melbourne to pick up a Zed.I'd suggest buying Just Cars Magazine to see what's on offer.Rick. September 14, 200420 yr Author comment_95091 If I were to buy a Zed it would be to replace the Pulsar and to give me some cash for a house. So the Zed is a bit of a dream at the moment, but If I see one pop up cheap and good cond, I'll grab it of course Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/13180-newbie/#findComment-95091 Share on other sites
September 14, 200420 yr comment_95125 Hi Method you can check out the www.viczcar.com website from time to time i list as many Z's for sale as I can dont' be suprised though alot of our members are like you "looking". www.ozdat.com is another good place to look every wednesday it is updated. of course trading post. By the way good luck finding a Z is the hard part as Alfa was saying. I'd rather not disclose how much i paid for my Z because I feel it is worth more than what I paid. I also believe these cars are on the verge of shooting off into a higher price range. I'll just let you know it was under $10k but honestly I'd be willing to pay $10k or more to replace her for a similar condition car. Hope that makes sense it's awfully late atm Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/13180-newbie/#findComment-95125 Share on other sites

September 14, 200420 yr comment_95156 I'd say the only way you could sell the Pulsar, buy a zed and have money left over for a deposit on a house would be to buy a 2+2 or a rusty sh*tbox.. unless you are very lucky. There was a $15,000 240z for sale on carpoint the other day, it was there for a week and is already gone.Good luck though.
