Saw this ad on Ebay for a nice 72 240z, then something odd caught my eye... anyone else notice it?

I would count removing the smog gear as a modification

The speedometer starts at 10mph, obviously ganked from an earlier car

The bumpers look at little large for a 72, I didn't think they started putting those bumpers on until 73

Too bad they didn't include a picture of the build date on the drivers side door tag

Maybe its just the photo, but the rear deck carpet looks like cut pile rather than the original loop pile

If you mean on the fenders, the 240Z came with just "DATSUN" badges on each side originally as shown in the pics. HLS30s sold here as 260z and 280z got those badges instead.

the "datsun" emblem on the rear hatch is the one they use for the 260 and 280z's because it has smooth rounded curves. the original datsun emblem for the 240z has sharper edges

It is a '73.

The VIN # says so. So do the bumpers and interior panel. It does have earlier carbs though.

Yup, US 1973 model, certainly made in 72, but manufactured to 73 model Safety and Emissions standards.

Awe com'on you guys!!!! You are missing the obvious. "Something odd caught my eye". Its not something you really have to look for. One of the pictures just glares at you. I mean GLARES. It isn't about the year of the car. The speedometer is fine - so are the emblems. DatsunZguy come closest so far....

Ok. Inf comes close too. BTW early speedometers started at 20
