September 11, 200420 yr Author comment_94797 Y'all are good. I mean, really good. It's this kind of stuff that makes me glad I joined here.My knowledge base is second-hand, learned through books and websites like zhome.comVIN is 12xxxx, indicating a 1973.Carbs are pre-1973. Man, that air cleaner looks like a repaintSpeaking of paint, I read that 1972 240s with silver paint (901) came with red interior. In 1973, they went with black. Also, I have not seen that cool black stripey thing along the hood on any other Zs--maybe not a bad thingI think the speedo is OK--the series I and II (I think) began at 20 mphI actually thought the bumpers looked OK--great pickup, though!I also think the heater panel is OK as I have seen 6-8 1972s (3/72, 5/72 and 6/72 man. dates) with similar layouts..After that, I defer to the expertise of 26th on what he is hinting at....XOh, that chrome lining the wheelwells and doors. September 11, 200420 yr comment_94803 Those look like very strange bumpers for a 240Z to me... Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/13216-can-you-spot-the-mistake/?&page=2#findComment-94803 Share on other sites
September 11, 200420 yr comment_94804 All right. I may have egg on my face. I really have to admit a serious lack of knowledge when it gets past the series one. But aren't the rear bumper guards on upside down? September 12, 200420 yr comment_94809 Those are the correct bumpers for a 73. The rear bumper guards are O.K. It does appear to have been "pushed in" towards the body. Kind of looks a little tweaked. The front bumper is missing the black rubber trim piece that sits behind the bumper in between the supports. Another thing I noticed are the door panels. The chrome strip isn't chrome anymore it's nice and blue. The engine bay looks like it had some silver touch-up paint applied to the heat shield with some overspray. Other than the other things that the other members have pointed out I can't see anything else. Pretty nice car though. Very clean! September 12, 200420 yr comment_94819 Hmmmm....Twins in your garage-I'd rather be you than have an egg free face! Will , No wonder the wife set a deadline for you to be finished "playing in the garage". How are those floor pans & "metal stitching" coming along? September 12, 200420 yr comment_94830 Carl, Nothing much done in the last five days-out of town guests, my wife and I are both on vacation-The babys room must be ready-all mean I am relegated to other service-and the Z waits-probably until this Saturday(9/18). The deadline looms closer every day that something comes between me and achieving it....WillHmmmm....At least I have a HOT, NAKED 33 year old patiently waiting for me to "work on" her, 26th is into those "older" situations-even though he has twins...
