Will,

When I get on my rants and raves about how I get a grin out of this site...you just got me! The twins will be 35 next month! Her Majesty is indeed naked, but Princess 27 is still fairly dressed. She isn't going to look too good naked! Poor little crack whore....

Back on topic; I could have sworn the bumper guards looked funny. Then there is the rubber strip between the front bumper and the body. Someone mentioned rubber strips between the guard and the bumper? There was a thread about that recently. I didn't think there was. Geez! I'm having enough trouble with the rubber parts for a '69! Finding all that rubber for a restoration would be a bitch!!!

The "hold down" brackets look funky. My 72 has them up underneath the car. The ones on the back are on the body/bumber(?). I know alot of dealers removed them once the car was put on the lot. The ones on the back are what really stump me. They look like cheap hooks.

All in all, I would say that the car in question had been restored fairly recently, and that the seller either isn't aware of it, ot is trying to hide it. No pictures of where the cars really rust, rust bubbles in the rear fender, parts that are close, but were not original to the car, a few mistakes in reassembly. Still A pretty car, but I would want to inspect it in person, too many little inconsistancies, and A great level of worksmanship that does not extend everywhere(over spray, painted hoses among clean originals, and new. I don't think the up keep has been done to the same standard as the majority of the work! Either the car is third hand, or the second hand found a major flaw that kept him from paying for the same quality of worksmanship.

26th, my '72 kept her habit hidden, must have been a high mainteneace recreational user. I found evidence under the undercoating, and in the front suspension mountings. That's OK, she has had time to dry out, and will be ready to embrace the rest of her life as therapy continues!!

On a serious note the head light buckets could have been replaced as the pin strike does not continue all the way to them. I know on my 73 they continued to the buckets but i am not sure if these are a factory item and if they all go to the same place.

Yellow indicators? It is an American car right? I was under the impression your turn signals were red.

2 toe hooks?

Clock doesn't work.

Dash matt is disgusting :)

In the USA:

Yellow Turn Indicators in front (and Front Side Markers as well)

Red Turn Indicators in Taillights (and Rear Side Markers as well)

240Z has McPherson Struts in front suspension and Chapman Struts in rear suspension.

(A lot of people are not aware of this)

Y'all are good. I mean, really good. It's this kind of stuff that makes me glad I joined here.

My knowledge base is second-hand, learned through books and websites like zhome.com

VIN is 12xxxx, indicating a 1973.

Carbs are pre-1973. Man, that air cleaner looks like a repaint

Speaking of paint, I read that 1972 240s with silver paint (901) came with red interior. In 1973, they went with black.

Also, I have not seen that cool black stripey thing along the hood on any other Zs--maybe not a bad thing

I think the speedo is OK--the series I and II (I think) began at 20 mph

I actually thought the bumpers looked OK--great pickup, though!

I also think the heater panel is OK as I have seen 6-8 1972s (3/72, 5/72 and 6/72 man. dates) with similar layouts..

After that, I defer to the expertise of 26th on what he is hinting at....

Oh, that chrome lining the wheelwells and doors. Aftermarket?

My 73 has that black stripey thingy... and those bumpers....
