Posted September 11, 200420 yr comment_94793 Anyone know what is going on?My 73 Z is acting up. When I use the turn signal, the exterior lights go on but they do not flash. The arrow signals inside do not light up.The hazards still work fine. Any ideas.Zover Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/13218-turn-signal-problems/ Share on other sites
September 12, 200420 yr comment_94815 First, the Hazards work on a separate flasher unit from the Turn Signals. (IF the 73 is like the 72, and I *think* it is). Have you confirmed that ALL bulbs are good? Cleaned all the connectors? These would be my first steps in troubleshooting. September 12, 200420 yr comment_94861 Zover,It might be as simple as replacing the flasher. Once, though, I had a bad plug connection - replaced the flasher, even replaced the column mounted signal unit ($$). Turned out the connection was poor @ the kick panel where everything plugs in. Worked the connector a couple times, used some CRC & that did the trick.Dave Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/13218-turn-signal-problems/#findComment-94861 Share on other sites
September 12, 200420 yr comment_94890 You obviously have a cross-connection between the switch and the flasher unit. the flasher's function is to breakup (pulse) the power to the t.s. bulbs, but before it, the power is just on or off, like the headlights. Since the dash bulbs don't flash, it tells me that the switch wire and the output from the flasher might be switched.Trace the wiring to see where the circuits are crossed, or switched. September 16, 200420 yr comment_95341 my flashers also do not work on the dash or outside...but they light up when the headlamps are on...but do not flash in turn signal mode or hazard flasher mode. i tried the "under the dash "583" fuse...that didn't solve anything... the fusable links are still in working order...any suggestions? September 17, 200420 yr comment_95530 more issues with this..i noticed that a whole lot of wires were clipped under the dash or simply disconnected. I reconnected tham and put in new bulbs for the indicator lights. However still lots of clipped wires...ive refered to the chiltons, but no luck there.... any ideas if these may be causeing my turn signal issues??
