September 16, 200420 yr comment_95385 Thanks for the numbers, I printed & saved em. The one in the car has concoidal cracks, I have extra windshield but looks pitted also. Has no chrome pieces, removed for the track. Windows get cracked often following 5" off another cars deck-lid at 100mph! :tapemouth Need to look into the lexan shields that bolt in? September 16, 200420 yr comment_95399 If that's the case fur-get-it, I'll stick to glass, I could think of better places to stick the money. September 16, 200420 yr comment_95404 Those Porsche's that got crunched by the train....it happened just the other day in Ventura California (home turf). What a bummer! It would have been tragic had they been Z cars!!! By the way, the older gentelman that told me about it, mentioned that if anyone ever has this happen (vehicle/trailer high centered on train tracks) to them.....all one needs to do to prevent a collision is to take a set of jumper cable and attach them to each track. This will cause a short in the tracks' electrical circuit (just as though a train was coming in the opposite direction) which in turn signal an oncoming train that there is something blocking the tracks. Sounds good to me! Only if the tracks are equipped with Centralized Traffic Control (CTC) and not just an industrial spur or rarely used short line. My father is a signal maintainer for BNSF and I've learned a lot about railroads in my time. September 16, 200420 yr comment_95432 Well, looks like the glass survived! Could be worse, this driver got his truck high-centered on a traintrack, then a train came killing 4 Porsches he was trailering! (sorry I said the P word).By the way I could use a new windshield for the 71, would a local glass shop have this?It was 5 Porsches actually! 3 Speedsters, a 356 A Coupe and a later model (930 I think) Cabriolet. I heard that the black one you pictured had around $150k sunk into it - concourse car :surprised Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/13265-one-of-my-trucks-was-rear-ended-by-an-18-wheeler-today/?&page=2#findComment-95432 Share on other sites
