September 27, 200420 yr comment_96598 Wonder why these parts are not in the microfiche? None of my Z's have had them, and I've never missed them either. Carpets stay put just fine without them......and IMO they look cheesy. Shouldn't (don't) need something that big and bright just to hold carpets in place. Also, unless you're long legged the front of the seat bottoms cover the clips (at least in my '75 280z). September 27, 200420 yr comment_96622 The 3 sets well, 2 1/2 sets I've seen appear to have started out as cad plated, mine are shiny....in spots. They very well may have started out painted black, I just haven't seen any. Why bother with cad-plating only to paintem? Later models maybe.david Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/13329-a-day-at-the-wreckers/?&page=3#findComment-96622 Share on other sites

When I pulled mine out, they were very rough (no plating left?). So I assumed they were painted or coated. So I assumed they were painted or coated. We may both be right if they changed over the years.... I friend of mine has a one owner 75 he parked several years back, that I'll have to check out tomorrow for these elusive items.....I would guess these have been discarded over the years when knocked loose or carpet changed out, just like the plastic seat guards.david Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/13329-a-day-at-the-wreckers/?&page=3#findComment-96627 Share on other sites
September 28, 200420 yr comment_96629 What suprises me is that I've never seen these items on any of my Z's and I've owned 240Z's since the early 70's, and they aren't listed in the Parts Microfiche either. I don't have the Parts Microfiche yet. I'm back working in Las Vegas again trying to catch up from experiencing the dismal California job situation. But when I do get the microfiche I look forward to checking out other parts and components unique to the '75-'76 280z's. Does the microfiche show the differences of the seat mechanism covers along the line? September 28, 200420 yr comment_96640 Hi Rob:I know what you mean about the job market here. Some other folks say they have them in 240Z's, so I don't know. I'm wondering if dealers pulled them out or something. My first Z was a 73 and I bought it from the original owner after he had it less than a year and it didn't have them so I'm at a loss to explain why I never had them in my cars or saw them in other Z's.The fiche does list different p/n's for seat mechanism covers. September 28, 200420 yr comment_96641 I'm wondering if the carpets were shipped loose from Japan, then installed by the dealers? Since the microfiche doesn't illustrate the clips, it may be that the dealer prep people didn't know what they were for, and just tossed them out.I'm also wondering if the different year model FSM's show them, or is the microfiche different from the FSM.Ahh....the mystery continues. September 28, 200420 yr comment_96644 Yes Rob, the Parts Microfiche sold by Mike is completely different from an FSM. The Parts Microfiche CD contains images of the actual microfiche that the parts guy uses to look up parts. It has the part numbers, and exploded diagrams of the car systems etc. It does not have assembly or disassembly information. The CD is a great resource to have.It could be that the carpets were not in place when the cars were shipped, and that was part of dealer prep. September 28, 200420 yr Author comment_96680 The car I pulled these clips from was a '73. I'll have to ask the guy who gave me his '72, he was the original owner. Maybe he knows or remembers having these clips. As to plated or painted, based on whats left of the ones I got, I would have to guess plated.DaveP.S. Carl, have you made it down to that pick-n-pull to pull that butterscotch interior? Looks like I should have pulled the Heater control panel for its "Lighted" feature Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/13329-a-day-at-the-wreckers/?&page=3#findComment-96680 Share on other sites
September 28, 200420 yr comment_96692 Hi David:I did go down there and I snagged a few parts off of it. I didn't get everything I wanted due to lack of funds, and some parts were already gone. When I left the interior panels, etc were still there.
