Zpression

Hope you like the term, I coined it just now. I am away at school, and having a blast. I'm learning, socializing, and making connections I feel I'll have for a while. I'm missing something though...my Z. I went home over the weekend and stuck myself in the garage all day Saturday. It was so amazing to feel like I accomplished something, I was so happy. Even though I work a ton up here academically, there's just something about working on the Z that makes me feel whole. Anyone else experienced Zpression?

Oh, I thought you were talking about a different kind of Zpression (doesn't quite work with the English/Australian pronunciation of Z LOL). That is, the continual problems can get very frustrating... my friend had a SA22 RX-7 and every time he fixed something something else went wrong. This can SERIOUSLY affect a person. My Z wasn't as bad but it still caused slight "Zpression"... But it was OK, because I had medication for it - the ignition key :classic:

They said it was just a part of owning an old car. True to some extent, but the Skyline has had almost no problems :) *knocks wood* YET

Hello everyone! I'd like to preface this post with a big 'shout-out' and thanks to the illustrious admin of this beloved site, without whom this discussion wouldn't even be possible. I think we should each take a few moments each day to turn our thoughts to the guy behind the curtain as they say, the one who makes it happen, the MAN WITH THE PLAN - of course I'm referring to Mike - the PHP wizard of classiczcars.com. Not only does he keep this site going, but without Mike's watchful eye and vigilant editing skills members would be at the mercy of their own wits and opinions. Thanks Mike for keeping us in line and supressing our overzealous personalities, and thanks for making this all happen for us members and the thousands of guests whose lives are geared up a notch each time they visit this place that some of us may even call home.

One way to squelch zpression is to pick up another Datsun to drive as a daily driver. I haven't been able to work on my Z since we bought our first house (I can't even reach it), but I picked up a cheap 210 to drive daily which has helped a lot. It's not a Z but it's still a Dat. Keeps that dream alive anyway. The 210 is fun so I can hardly imagine what 250% of the 210's HP and torque is going to be like. Some day!

Love your Dats - keep em alive...

Michael

I'll agree with that. I've got a 200,000 mile 1985 small datsun commuter car (micra) that keeps going on and on. Incidentally it is currently using a 240z interior mirror, 240z plug leads and fuel filter so I have some of my z with me most of the time. :)

I'm sure that all of us fortunate z owners that live in snowy climates go through zpression in the winter. Salt, the ultimate enemy of the z, keeps my love off the road untill at least two good salt washing rains into the spring. Waiting for the the rain to do it's job is terriable as well. Battery acid being the second worst enemy, while off topic had to be mentioned. Still looking for anyone out there that will cut up a doner tray area for me....anyone?

Good to know I'm not alone, and 280z, I second that...what's up with that anyhow? Thinking I might go home this weekend out of frustration. I really want to get the car up high and start dismantling suspension/brakes.

My Zedression (see AlphaDog...it is possible) is small. Many people have purchased Zed's then proptly pulled them apart for a resto project. I made that I drove mine for 1 year before starting my resto. That means that I have the bug/fever/need to have it back as fast I can, this in turns resuts in minimal Zedression.

Mike....why the long wait????
