Hi guys,

Just thought I would pop on as im thinking of buying a 240z.

Just really wanted some buying advice and what to and not to look for.

I've got a 300zxTT atm (z32). Having enough of throwing money at this I thought I would get a propper looking car (240z) and throw some money at that instead!

Just wanted to know what sort of hp can be acheived from these lumps and what engine transplants if any can be done.

Also just wanting to know what people think this car sounds like;

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=2487592362

any ideas of what to look for to check the spec matches?

Cheers

Steve

Hi Steve,

You can transplant a L28 turbo into a 240Z and with the right amount of money you can get well over 300 horsepower. I'm a believer of Nissan Power in a Nissan BUT there are those out there that swap all kinds of motors into the Z. Supra 6, Ford V8, Chevy V8, Buick V6 turbo. The Nissan RB series swaps really interest me but I dont have that kind of scratch. :D I'd love to have an RB26DETT in one of my Z's. And the four wheel drive setup as well.

The ebay linked car looks pretty good. Good Z hunting mate.

What most people will tell you is to look out for rust. Floor pans, frame rails and rear deck lid just to name a few spots.

If your looking for an original car then the one on Ebay isn't for you. It's obviously been extensively modified. Take a stroll and look through our gallery and you will find a lot of modified and stock examples. We have a few members on this site that live in your neck of the woods so maybe they can help you find what you want.

The hp out of a stock 240 will be in the 150 range. As to what kind of engine transplants can be done, I would say your only limited by your imagination (and your billfold).

Good luck and welcome to the world of Zed's.
