Coin tray

I'm in the middle of remounting the choke on my 240. Can anyone tell me if the coin tray has a metal "inside" or does the door slide open so that you put your coins directly into the depression in the centre console.

Here's a picture of what in my console's coin (or ash) tray on my 72. It's indeed removable and the perfect size for a 12 ounce can of your favorite beverage. :classic:
