Pattern for handbrake boot

TomoHawk

Recommended Posts

Does anybody have a pattern to make a boot for the handbrake lever? I have leather pieces big enough for a shifter boot & brake boot, so I'd like to make some from leather.

The brake boot I had is long gone. I suppose I could have taken a pattern from that. :(

thx.

I made a shifter boot but carefully cutting up the old one and using it as a template, so I was going to suggest that, but since you don't have one :stupid: I was thinking of making a matching handbrake boot, but never got around to it. The clips that hold it in place threw me off a bit. If I ever do make one, I'll let you know, but first I have to fit a G-nose, wire up electric mirrors, install new springs and shocks, try and make new guage faces etc etc.... ROFL

It never ends.

Tomohawk, I'll send you a used brake boot, if you will send me a set patterns of the shifter boot and brake boot-whenever you get them. Maybe they would be a good post for the archives. PM me your address, and it will go out tomorrow. With that, I 'm in no rush for the paterns, My car is still under the knife (plasma cutter) on the rotisserie, waiting for more metal from Charley Osborne!

thanks Will,

Keep in mind I have an automatic transmission and no center console, so I'm winging this. I'll need to make a plate with hooks (or something) to mount to the floor or the carpet and attach the shifter boot to the plate and the shifter. I'll make sure you get credit for doing your part (on my ferrari web page- timeline)

thx

I just finished my auto trans shifter boot. Thanks, Mom. (she had to do the 'mom' thing- sewing isn't manly LOL ) the leather is from the Salvation Army store, pattern using careful measurements, and the two halves were STAPLED together?

Here's some pics attached, and you will see the two bracket things I made from bent box tube I got from an old chair. I will scan the pattern for the two halves Monday.

thx for the 'collaboration.'

I think when I finish everything else, I'll take the center console out completely, and cutout & cover the hole where the ashtray was. That way I can put a fire extinguisher between the seats. I only need a place to mount the change holder- no need for an ashtray. the armrest is only for storage of repair tools right now.

thx
