Posted October 3, 200420 yr comment_97212 but, I dont know with what. Im not looking to spend $500 on a bad-@ss race clutch, but I do want upgraded grab over the stock old-technology unit. I autoX the Z about 3-4 times a year. My 260 has slightly upgraded torque and hp, but nothing to go braggin home to your girlfriend about. So, any brand suggestions? I was looking at the CluthMaster FX100, the Centerforce I, II, and dual clutch. Suggestions?Thanks!-Patrick DaviesBTW the Dual Clutch requires a 280Z clutch collar, what the heck is a clutch collar?? October 3, 200420 yr comment_97217 Throw out bearing collar, the part the throw out bearing is pressed onto which is the part the clutch fork pushes on to move the throw out bearing back and forth.I can't recommend a clutch other than OEM, maybe an OEM turbo upgrade that would require a turbo flywheel too. I always had good luck with them. I currently run an itty bitty Tilton flywheel with 7.25" dual disk Quartermaster. Old school very high performance, light weight, racing only, super grabby, better-not-slip-it-if-you-want-it-to-last, super pain in the rear clutch if you aren't into changing out disks a couple or 3 times a year. October 3, 200420 yr Author comment_97219 I figured out what the clutch collar was... i had never seen one seperated from the throw out bearing. I'd always had a good one on hand (heres to recycled parts...the cardinal sin)i just bought the Centerforce II clutch, its got a warranty, and I got some recommendations from my vette buddies that its a good brand... if i have bad luck with it, i will broadcast. -patrick Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/13496-replacing-the-old-clutch-but/#findComment-97219 Share on other sites

October 4, 200420 yr comment_97258 I had a Centerforce in an Accord that I autox back in '92 and it held like you wouldn't believe! I could easily make the stock clutch slip but never could do this with the Centerforce...in fact I destroyed one in a way that the shop had never seen. I downshifted from 4th to 2nd at 60mph and blew up...it didn't slip...it grabbed hard. Yes, it was a dumb move one of those nights I shouldn't have been driving when I was young. October 4, 200420 yr comment_97273 Patrick, I've been running the Centerforce II since 2000 and I couldn't be happier with it. Centerforce clutches have a pretty good reputation for there performance and durability.
