feydjm Posted October 4, 2004 Share #1 Posted October 4, 2004 Good evening everyone,I was just wondering if I should replace the steering rack bushings with the weight of the car on the wheels or if I should jack the front up and do the work with the weight off the suspension. Any thoughts appreciated!Justin 73 240Z
Bambikiller240 Posted October 4, 2004 Share #2 Posted October 4, 2004 The only way you are going to be able to get the old rack bushings out and the new ones installed is from below, with the nuts that secure motor mounts to the crossmember removed, and the engine jacked up about an inch or two. Otherwise there is not enough clearance to do the job.

Black Beaut Posted October 5, 2004 Share #4 Posted October 5, 2004 Hmmm, wish I'd known about raising the engine up a bit when I did mine. I guess this proves though that with enough swearing anything is possible Cheers, Rob
