Hi, I cant get my doors to close !!! I originally had Vic Brit door stripping and it was tight but now I put Nissan weatherstripping on and cant even get a click on the latch!! Getting mad (like the Italian that I am) I took everything out and the doors close like new. Does anyone make "thin" stripping? :sleep: zztom

I've heard quite a few people say the same thing after replacing the weatherstripping. I think you may have to adjust the door striker until the weatherstripping starts to compress and conform to the door. It may have been re-adjusted to compensate for the old rubber that was getting kinda flattened and is now way too far out of adjustment to let it latch.

I have heard the same deal with new weatherstripping. The trick that worked for me was after I put it on, I took a little chauk and put around the door so I could see where it was connecting. Based on this I was able to adjust the striker on the body for the door. Been a little bit but I think I had to adjust it all the way out. After 30 years or so, there definatly has been someone who adjusted it in to accomidate the old weather stripping. If you replaced this on the doors, now is a good time to replace the rain gaurd rubber thingie on the door just behind the mirror on top.

If anyone has the answer to this question, I want to know. I bought my replacement stripping from motorsport and replaced all of the driver door rubber at the same time, i.e. body weatherstrip, underdoor weatherstrip, top front of door weatherstrip, inside door felt, window frame runner felt, etc.. The labels on the rubber was from Nissan, so they were all factory seals. I also bought the passenger doors rubber as well but haven't installed it yet because of these problematic issues.

My driver door still does not close properly, after a full year. I have tried all of these adjustment tricks but have not been able to get the door to close so that the body and door align. The weatherstrip on the body keeps coming loose at the curve where the door and window assembly meet also.

Has anyone tried cutting the weatherstrip to reduce the physical thickness of it and if so where did you make the cut?

Anybody tried to bend the flange that the stock welting attached to to give a little extra room for the new weatherstripping to compress? It seems like this might be an alternative to cutting the new weatherstripping. A hammer and a block of wood, or maybe a set of body shop vise grips with the wide panel jaws might work. :confused:

Thats good thinking but the door isnt even close. I lined up the latches with no weatherstripping on and adjusted the door to only pull out to the body line. Then I put the strip in and it's not close. I even drove around without the strip but the doors rattled and the wind blew !!!!LOL ......... I'm sure I'll get it.
