Posted October 12, 200420 yr comment_97997 My goal is to make a few of the electrical devices on my car operate in a custom switch panel seperate from any stock devices.I would like to have a switch for the headlights, parking lights, dash lights, high/low beam toggle switch. I do not want to use the stock switches because they are faulty and i do not require fully orignial interior. read further if you are willing to help me.my question is: when i run power from the battery to my custom switch panel, how should i go about doing it safely. how do i know what kind of fuse to use with each switch. what size wires should i use for the project. Right now, all lights except headlights turn on when i step on the brakes.. ??? i dont know why and this switch panel will elliminate the prob.please any help is apreciated, i know a little about wiring so im not a total noob. October 31, 200420 yr comment_100202 i would run a 8guage an place close by the panel for your positive and use the same fuse size used for each item you hook up.use the new positive point for your new current and just ground the negitives out to the body or go for the wires and the old switch and use that for a starting point and lead the wires to where you want them to go. i would advise solidering the conection and useing heat shrink tubeing Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/13598-please-help-me-with-custom-wiring/#findComment-100202 Share on other sites
October 31, 200420 yr comment_100205 Make sure you use materials made for automotive use, www.waytekwire.com , for example. I would also make use of convoluted tubing.Straightening out, or, atleast reviewing the current wiring for the current problem might be a good idea-the changes were made for a reason. If you can figure out why you could probably address that situation with your additions as well. Will Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/13598-please-help-me-with-custom-wiring/#findComment-100205 Share on other sites
