Is your car missing the torsion rod spring things? they do a pretty good job of holding the bonnet open, then theres the rod thingy ontop of the Rad support panel the locks into the bonet to stop it from closing.

Does your car not have these parts?

theres the bonet thingo in this pic:

it got bent when the wind blew my bonnet down, and its not holding it up properly anymore, i thought id upgrade to a better system if possible, i do most my work outside and the winds will blow the bonnet down,

by using struts i thought it be able to hold better than than rod.

hoping someone eles might have tried it before i give it a go.

Is there a way to adjust the torsion bars? The hood on my '72 parts car used to stay up on its own, while my '71 car's hood will not stay up without the prop in place. Then I forget it's there and try and close the hood without putting it down (I've a bad case of Sometimers disease I guess). Sometimes I remember, sometimes I don't. How do you increase the torsion to hold up the hood?
