FULL THROTTLE:

REALITY SHOW LOOKING FOR WEEKEND MECHANICS

ARE you a car enthusiast? Do you have experience

fixing up cars?

"Full Throttle" follows two teams of two (relatives,

friends, couples, etc.)

as they fix classic cars. The teams will then get

the opportunity to drag race their classic car against

the other team.

The winning team will walk away with BOTH CARS!

If you are interested "Full Throttle" wants to hear

from you. If you love fixing cars and are

competitive, please e-mail your Name, Contact number,

It's nice to hear from you, that you consider our little group worthy of such a great opportunity.

However, I was dissapointed the 240Z show. these cars weren't meant for "drag racing" without a V8 engine swap! And yet the whole show focuses on how hard and how fast these people can get the car to go down the strip. I realistically expected the 30+year-old rear axles to break! I'm surprised they got all that work done in the first place.

I think it would have been more appropriate to to go to a road-race track, and have have Mr. Morton ( who was featured on the show as a 240Z racing 'expert') to first drive both cars to size-up the track, then have the teams race there several laps, or even several heats of 2-3 laps, for the prize.

The other show I saw involved cars more suited to drag-racing, like the El-Camino vs. Ranchero show.

I wouldn't even drag-race my 280Z! But I'd definitely take it road racing. My boy LOVES taking a street corner at 35 MPH! :D

I watched the re-run (i'm guessing) of the Full Throttle show with the two '75 Pontiac Formulas. As usual, they give a history of the cars they're featuring for that week. They explained the downfall of the American Muscle car, prices of other imports, emission restrictions and the usual blah, blah, blah of the oil embargo in the 70's. We'll you can imagine my surprise when they showed how the 240Z contributed to the demise of many cars in the 70's. Ha, ha, ha. Chalk one up for the Z car cuttin' in on the Pontiac build. The comentator even said that the 240Z was one sweet little car that the US car makers could not forsee. It was GREAT!!! :laugh:

I'll bet they had more time on the history for the American cars, than the 240z. Maybe because of the 'mystery' of the Z-car History, or because it's "not an AMERICAN car." :( I'll have to dig up my tape and watch the show again.

I really don't care for any of the contemporary imports, especially Japanese. But for what it is, the Zs are the only imports I have respect and admiration for- which is why I have one. It's too bad the American designers & engineers were too closed-minded to come up with something like it on their own.

I was watching the lastFull Throttle show, with the Ranchero v. El Camino, and I noticed that they used Brand new crate engines! Why didn't they do that with the 240Zs??? Maybe you can't get a new L24, but there are other engines that will fit, and those "experts" should have been able to hook them up just as quickly, or maybe with an extra day, as it could be considered a special case.

Another reason why I think they should have opted for road-racing instead of drag-racing.
