Fusible links

Found some info on the web regarding fusible links that might be of some help to everyone as far a converting from AWG to mm². Or if you know what mm² size you require/need, you can convert that back over to AWG (Fusible link wire size in AWG). Should be able to find correct fusible link wire at any local parts store, NAPA, MSA, Victoria British LTD, or other some other parts source that you might know about. Sure helps out if you have the FSM for your model year, as it usually tells you what size "fusible links" you need, and how many of each you need.

Great! This helps out a bunch. I had put in an "add-on" blade fuse to replace what is the black one. Been using a 35amp fuse, the biggest one I could find and it blows out in a week or so if I leave the battery connected.

Cheers!

I understand what the large ones with the covers do, but whjat about the ones on the side of the relay box? I have a 78' that I would like to replace the fused links with auto-resetable ciurcuit breakers. Are the currents correct in this photo?

I thought they were like this:

headlights 20A

ignition 30A

igntion relay 30A

alternator 60A

The big question for me is which one protects which circuits? I only know of the one that goes to the headlamps.

BTW, why don't you have ant BROWN fuse links on your '78. Mine does, and it's in my owners book, Haynes book, and the MSA catalog.

Pete-

AFAIK, there are only the 5 fuse links on a '78, all under the hood. One goes from the battery (+) to the e.f.i. module, and the other four are on the shocktower, mounted to the relay cover, as in the photo.

thx
