October 27, 200420 yr Author comment_99661 yeah one thing i noticed about z's is that they only sound better, and better as the rpm's increase. its "zweet". Almost sounds like a european sports car. Very pleasing to the ears if i do say so myself. Who needs a sterio when you have open exhaust? October 27, 200420 yr comment_99690 I don't know, this loud exhaust thing, must be a younger generation thing. I like the feeling of pulling away from a loud car with my fairly quiet exhaust(Dynomax Super Turbo mufffler) being drowned out by that much louder ehxahust as it's fading behind me. :devious: Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/13782-sweet/?&page=2#findComment-99690 Share on other sites
October 27, 200420 yr comment_99699 American Big Block V-8's, yes a nice Flowmaster exhaust or something. Our sixes, medium exhaust. Ricers and 4 bangers, completely seal up the pipe Don't like the "angry bee" type muffler or tip they use. October 27, 200420 yr comment_99711 Zrush, you speak the truth! Only, you need to use a Spin Tech instead of a Blowmaster. Here is the Moroso Spiral Flow muffler we have on the Z, and it sounds Zweet! Header, 3" all the way back, then Spiral Flow out the tail! http://www.moroso.com/catalog/categorydisplay.asp?catcode=35001 Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/13782-sweet/?&page=2#findComment-99711 Share on other sites
October 27, 200420 yr comment_99724 I'm not saying i particularly love my exhaust sometimes it's a big loud. At 120DB at 4500rpm that is measured just at the tip though. It's a bit excessive however I plan on redoing the entire system at some stage or at least making it a tad quieter. The dual pipes definately give the Z a different note and I think once i tone it down a notch it will have an awesome exotic note Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/13782-sweet/?&page=2#findComment-99724 Share on other sites
October 27, 200420 yr comment_99730 Anyone out there remember the Thrush Mufflers and Cherry Bombs of the 70's. I had a dual exhaust Mach 1 with a massive 351 Cleveland with Thrushys. Thought we were so cool back then. You'd let off the gas and they'd "pop, pop, pop". How cheesy is that now. Thrush mufflers used to come with the little road runner type bird sticker. Anybody old enough to remember that? Vicky Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/13782-sweet/?&page=2#findComment-99730 Share on other sites
October 27, 200420 yr comment_99732 Vicky:They are still out there. Thrush is sold by Dynomax, and Cherry Bomb is sold by Maremont. What I used to get a kick out of was the boneheads who would take the Logo Sticker included with every muffler and apply it to the Muffler after installation! :stupid: Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/13782-sweet/?&page=2#findComment-99732 Share on other sites
October 27, 200420 yr comment_99734 Been there done that. 72 Mach 1, 351 Cleveland, Edelbrock Intake, 650 Holley, Hookers, and Thrush, Posi-Traction N50 Series Tires, 1st car and wish I still had it! But life moves on- and on. . . :classic: Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/13782-sweet/?&page=2#findComment-99734 Share on other sites
October 27, 200420 yr comment_99735 oh, I didn't mean I did the bonehead thing with the sticker. :stupid: Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/13782-sweet/?&page=2#findComment-99735 Share on other sites
October 27, 200420 yr comment_99736 Why would they put the sticker on the muffler if nobody could see it? :stupid: Anyone running striaght pipes? Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/13782-sweet/?&page=2#findComment-99736 Share on other sites

It was also my first car. Bought it in '78. Same rust problems as the Z's however. But screaming fast :devious:. It was my guaranteed $100 bracket winner at the Friday nite drags at Sunshine Speedway. October 27, 200420 yr comment_99756 Vicky- We're not old yet are we? Mine was a metallic silver with blue rocker panels. I had silver mirrored windows that always got me pulled over! I also had hi-jacker air shocks. If I can find some pics I'll post one for ya. It was a good looking car. I called it the "Silver Bullet". AM/FM Cassetter & 8Track! cool huh! Did you have that roach-clip feather thing hanging from the mirror too? :paranoid: Anyways sold it to buy my first Z, 72 240Z, in the early 80's. ignore the date of the pic, on 9-11-04 I took a picture of an old picture.
