Posted October 26, 200420 yr comment_99597 Hello all, I just picked up a 72 240Z and was wanting to read up more on it. Technical articles on engine swaps (particularily a 280zxt swap), suspension, technical info like engine stats, gearing etc and just general owners rantings. are there any recommended pages to look at (shameless plugging of your own site is recommended ) ? Honestly, this site is a little bit hard to navigate and I can't seem to find any live links to a good tech write up.... Thanks so much in advance all. -Chee Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/13795-learning-the-z/ Share on other sites
October 26, 200420 yr comment_99609 The majority of members here are into the OEM configuration of the vehicle. As a result, your availability of information will be somewhat limited.www.hybridz.org (I think)Is one place where they have a ton of information on these swaps.Hope this helps.Enrique Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/13795-learning-the-z/#findComment-99609 Share on other sites
October 26, 200420 yr Author comment_99613 well currently I'm not planning on swapping anything. I'm actually planning on just keeping it stock, but I like to read things to give me ideas...like we really need any more ideas, right? :stupid:doesn't have to be swap info just good reading where I can glean info here and there on the Z (my first one) Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/13795-learning-the-z/#findComment-99613 Share on other sites
October 26, 200420 yr comment_99614 The site is a bit overwhelming isn't it? Don't worry, after you settle in you'll come to realise most of the links you won't need! What you do need is the "Search" one - top right menu. Here's where you'll find most of your meaty stuff. Also click "Forums" on the top left, and you can browse the forums by section. Those are the two main links you need for searching old topics. If youcan't find something, just make a topic and someone should be able to point you in the right direction, or in the rare case that it hasn't been asked before, I guarantee you someone will know!!! October 26, 200420 yr comment_99619 here are some sites with good info (not exhaustive by any means):zhome.comzcar.comatlanticz.cazcca.orghybridz.orgBest book you can buy is Factory Service Manual (hard to come by, consider the CD version from Courtesy Nissan), ZCar Microfiche (ahem...this site has a good one...ahem) and Wick Humble's book on Z car restoration. I also bought Monroe's book on L-series engine restoration as well as a book by Des Hammill on SU carb tuning. As always, if anything in those books leaves questions (like the ever present "remove special gland packing nut with special gland packing nut tool # 378239400000000" which I like to translate as "get some PB Blaster and a BFH or pipe wrench") about how to do things, search the forums or post the question!Good luck with the resto!X Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/13795-learning-the-z/#findComment-99619 Share on other sites
