Gav240z Posted October 27, 2004 Share #1 Posted October 27, 2004 As the subject says I'm a little curious as to how much an LD28 crank would sell for on average second hand? I should be getting one in a couple of weeks off a guy importing a few to downunder however I've been watching a few on ebay and looking into shipping costs and it seems like it might work out a bit cheaper provided the LD28 stays under a certain price. . Bambikiller240 Posted October 27, 2004 Share #2 Posted October 27, 2004 The ones I've seen on eBay tend to go for $250 - $300, though it has been a while since I was following prices on them. (used, of course) If a guy could find a Diesel Maxima in a boneyard he could get one for a lot cheaper though. Guess it all depends on how "resourceful" a buyer is as to what it is worth to him. Gav240z Posted October 27, 2004 Author Share #4 Posted October 27, 2004 Well the dilemna is that I've got the money ready and so far the $800 AUD is a good price. I've told the guy I'm interested and he'll be expecting me to buy it when it comes in although he had no trouble selling the last 3 as they went like hot cakes he said. So if I notified him that i already aquired one I'm sure he'd be ok as he can probably off load them easily.I figured they go on ebay for $300 odd there is one for $201.09 that I am watching now not sure if it will go much higher but with shipping it will work out $600 AUD or just under anyway with exchange rate.THe main problem is I am told by this other guy that they are in good condition and from the pic of the Ebay one it looks fairly clean if not polished and his P90 for sale looks awesome aswell. However we all know it could be a deceptive pic but the sellers Ebay history looks like he's a flawless ebayer. This other guy your talking about who is he and how much does he want do you know? texasz Posted October 27, 2004 Share #5 Posted October 27, 2004 In the US I have seen them sell for as little as $200 on up to $300 for the part...then add shipping to where ever. These are used parts of course. As for junk yards...I was hot on the search last month and they were not available any cheaper. Most junk yards only had complete LD28 engines and would not part them out, they wanted to sell the entire engine. But I did find one that was selling the engine for $200 so I convinced them to pull the crank and sell it to me for the same price leaving them some additional parts they could still sell. These little gems are rather tough to find and when you do locate one they hold a nice high price tag on them. sblake01 Posted October 27, 2004 Share #7 Posted October 27, 2004 If you find them here in the self service yards, and remove them yourself, they only cost about $40! Youv'e got to be quick because many people are aware of their popularity and they don't last long. I just saw one today. LD28 upside down, leaning against the front bumper of a Maxima wagon with the crankshaft gone. I see them with diesel engines still in tact but I don't think I'll ever build a stroker and with what it takes to get the crank out, I would want at least $100 for the labor. (shipping looks like it will be around $50 including insurance) so $200 total. If you are willing to pull one for me I'm willing to pay you for it. Let me know! Anyone else that can get one close to $200 let me know.
