What country are you in?

The short answer Yes, .... and No. I guess it depends on the Speedway rules in your country as to why you are asking. What country are you in?

The S30 series 2+2 did come out with fuel injection in the , but with the L20 and the L28, in Japan and the USA respectively, but the were called Fairlady Z in Japan, and 280Z in the USA.

Australia never got the L28 (280Z) as the L26 of the (260Z was adequate for Australian conditions, the fuel we had at the time, and the market at the time)

Dont Know what the story is in Europe.

240z, 260Z, 280Z, Fairlady Z are all S30 chassis cars.

I think they stared putting FI on them around '76, but i'm just guessing.

Rohan i've never heard of an injected L26 in an S30 chassis i think your best bet would be to check for information in Japan regarding this as Mr C was saying they were injected but not on the L26 block.

There was a 280z 2+2 with injection in the USA and some parts of Europe I believe but not in Australia.

One of the works rally cars had injection [8075, AlanT will correct me if I'm wrong], however that was a 240.

260's never came into Aus with FI,

A 280 swap would be the most viable way to upgrade into FI. This is an acceptable model runon in Group 3C PRC Rally Cars or HRC4, note you would need to have the car log booked as a 280z.

For the life of me I can't see why anyone would want to race a 2+2, although I had toyed with the notion of hacking one up into a rally car. I gave this idea up as sheer lunacy due to the extra weight...

yeh the reason we had to use a 2+2 is because it is not considered a "sports car"

we have been running this car for years with a FI L28 engine, but have recently changed class.

they want us out because it is killing the V8 falcons and torries n so forth, so they want to change the rules so that we cant run our current setup, ideally they would like us not to run at all!

so basically, if we can find any specs sayn that there was a production Z 2+2 (same body as the 260 2+2, not the 280ZX) from anywhere in the world! we can run our car as it is!

just some info for me (im not overally up to date waith the Zrange) there was an L28 engine realised in the same body as the 260z 2+2?

thanks

Mr. Camo answered the question in his first post! YES there was a S30-shape Z in 2+2 with a L28 with FI.

Zedrally, I've heard a few times people choose to use the 2+2 because of the longer wheelbase meaning it's a bit more predictable in the handling department. Judge for yourself the validity of such a statement!

Interesting comment?

Who is currently campaigning a 2+2 in rallies? Perhaps you can PM me with their names so I can contact them. I'd be most interested in the setup????

It certainly would be more stable given it's overall extra length, but the weight......errrrrrrr.

we are in melb vic! thanks for your info, but any more would be appriciated!

OK then, No the 260Z 2+2 never came out with fuel injection in any country market. It either had twin SU carbies, or in some markets a single down draft carbie.

The only 2+2's that had injection were the Fairlady Z 2+2, and the 280Z 2+2.

Hey Guys, if you remember Z car magazine (from the 90's) I am absoulutely certain they had a photo in the readers rides section once of a 78 260 2+2 with the "rare fuel injection option". I remember the car had been sold originally in Bahrain or maybe Saudi Arabia, and the present day owner had taken it to England for restoration.

The injection setup was particularly clean without EGR or some of the other auxilary stuff on the intake manifold.
