Now that my '78 280Z is nearing completion I am looking into "agreed value" coverage of the car. Probably somewhere between $12-$15K. I am looking at being able to drive it once a week and it will be garaged at all other times. My son has 4 years before he'll be old enough to drive it. My normal car insurance is with USAA and I have a clean record. On line quote from Hagerty is $218 - $259 per year. Sounds pretty good to me.

For what it's worth, that's the route I went with my "72".

Can drive often just not to be a daily driver.

Premium was the best I found for the value of the car.

That includes a tow package.

I also checked into Grundy and they don't limit your drive mileage. $15K value for $248/year.

Hagerty is the company we have on the 2 Z's AND our car hauler. We shopped rates at every classic/specialty insurance company around. Hagerty is great as they attend numerous auctions and keep a close eye on the sale price that eventually helps to determine the so called "agreed value" of your car. Agreed Value is for anything up to 50K after that, you must prove the value of your auto. Most of these types of specialty carriers require that you have separate and current insurance coverage on your other vehicles

I also use Hagerty for the Z and the truck. Can't beat the price and it fits the way I use them. The 810 and J30 are our daily drivers and insured on a regular policy with Allstate. The tow package isn't that important to me since we have AAA+ cards. I intend to check this year with Hagerty if it's possible to drop their tow package.

I have my '69 Roadster under Pollman Insurance, valued at $7000, unlimited miles, must be kept in a locked garage. $189, full coverage with a 500 or 1000 deductible, I don't really remember off hand.

I have both my 240's insured with State Farm. They have a classic car policy that not too many people know about. I have an agreed upon value policy for each car. For the '70 at a $9,000 value, I pay about $40/6 mos. Judging by the rising values lately, I should probably up the value.

We have used a number of classic car insurance companies through my insurance agency and have found that both Grundy & Haggerty to be reliable and competitively priced. Every state differs in their rule and regulations so you may want to check with your local agent to see if they carry a specialty company for classic car coverage. The rates don't change if you go through an agent or not for most of the companies. Also coverages & rules of usage arn't always the same so take that into consideration when comparing companies.

Contacted them and they wanted to limit my cars value to $7500. I told them I wanted an agreed value of $15000 and they declined...... :surprised I'll contact Hagerty & Grundy next week.
