MSA 10th Anniversay Show 2005

I am going going to reserve a hotel room (hopefully close to the show or at the hotel of choice) and push like crazy to birth the car before the show.

Thomas is already in Daycare, and Trisha(The MooCow or mobile milk bar as she calls herself in jest) goes back to work on Monday. I will be rearranging my schedule to perform the majority of my employment satisfaction in the evenings/early morning, leaving (hopefully) a large lit portion of the day available for gestational activities on the Z!

If she is born in time, I will linkup at I10 in Talahassee for the drive, if not I will probably fly in a day ahead, and attend the show car-less, but either way I will bring samples of what I have made for the S30s. If this all goes to plan, I will be posting pictures of progress daily starting on Monday-if not, please apply boots to my butt and a smathering of(expletive deleated) to my pm account!

I stay at the host hotel every year. I book my room from Ramada directly and have always gotten a better price then the discount offered.

The Ramada is nothing special. What is nice is all the cars in the parking lot and the chance to talk to people without feeling rushed. The bar on site is a plus as well. Talking from experience, staying at a hotel where only a few Z owners might be staying doesn't have the same effect. To me the hotel is just as much a part of the overall event when coming from out of town.

Ask Lonnie Louie, I saw his car in the parking lot 4 years ago and knew that some day it had to be in the magazine. It took a while, but it finally made it in (Winter 2005) and on the cover no less. Chances are I would have never been able to spend the time to really look at his car had I only seen it at the show. The day of the show is kind of crazy for me and I never get the chance to look at all the Z's the way I would like to. Being able to take the time to walk around the hotel parking lot at my own pace helps a lot.

For the extra couple of dollars that it might cost, the enjoyment factor is worth it.

No matter what kind of problems the show might have, it's still the best Z event to attend. And that's the Z owner in me talking.

They normally have a host hotel which gives show participants discounts. When we went in 2003 it was the Ramada. But there are many hotels on Katella avenue because of Disney Land being right down the road. It's nice if we all stay at the same hotel so we can meet up, party and see each other cars without the mob scene at MSA.

Sounds like a good idea to me.... So what will it be, the Ramada?

Of course there is nothing to prevent one from "visiting" the Ramada to check out the cars in the parking lot and bench race in the bar. Staying elsewhere saves me enough $ to drink all evening for free.

It can be done both ways without missing anything (BTDT). The point of my previous post was that staying at the Ramada is FAR from your only option.

I go every year with the family so it can't be ALL Z stuff so we stay at the Hilton Suites which I believe is closer than the Ramada, nicer too. Will be instructing at the driving school as usual, attending the Saturday Banquet and the Sunday car show! Remember to buy all your goodies on Friday because Sunday is always a mad house!

The bar is my point. I like knowing that I can drink as many beers as I like and stumble back to my room (I live a pretty normal life and since my wife doesn't drink it's my chance to remember what it was like-once a year). I can be sleeping in a matter of minutes. I guess I'm just comfortable with the layout since I've been staying there the past four years. Look for me in the bar Carl, I'll be the one not trying to make to much of a fool of myself. I wear a Harley cap and shouldn't be too hard to find.

Since I haven't yet purchased a Classic Zcar Club hat, I have printed up an I.D. tag so folks will know who I am at the MSA show this year. It reads.......

Tom Whitaker

240ZX on Classic Zcar Club

2126 on Hybridz

Maybe others might do the same, so it's a bit easier to identify our fellow members!

Just an idea!!!
