MSA 10th Anniversay Show 2005

What are the timely particulars of the show (when)?, and what if we set up meeting a some thing like several hours-to a day-before and went together, so that the first come, first serve could be used to our advantage? I think Chino 240Z has the right idea. Not that my car might not suffer from comparisons with some of the local club members, but considering it will just have been driven from Ga to Cali, I would rather it be among friends and possibly help them.

I am shooting for having the '72 back on the street before then, and making that her second trip of any consequence.

I have never brought a Z to the MSA show, but I have to say it is by far the best Z (mostly) car show in the country, period. Granted, due to the size there will always be problems. If you are a person that likes to look at Z's, this show is for you. If you are intrested in winning trophies, this might not be the best show for you since it is peoples choice. I don't care if a Z is parked in the middle or the end. I will take the time to walk the entire length of Collins (side streets included). I have been to 9 national conventions and a handful of local shows around the country and I can tell you from experience that this is the best show going. Going to this show is like going to a fair, there is something for everyone. And remember this is more than just about the show. It's a chance to meet new people over a three day period, hanging out in the hotel bars at night, talking to people in the parking lots, autocrossing and doing some kart racing. If I wasn't a part of the magazine I could actually spend more time enjoying the event instead of working it. I understand that MSA will not be able to please everyone, but this event is a must do if you are a Z nut. I know I am.

We will be leaving on Saturday (4/16) and getting into California on Tuesday (4/19). I want to be able to cruise the PCH or some other nice road. We all can meet and greet the day before the show and do something, eats and a Z cruise. We can't do much after the show Sunday as we have to load the car on the trailer and drive all the way back to Florida (yuck). If Saturday's event is lame, maybe we could do something then. I guess we have to wait and see what the event schedule will be.

Scott and Vicky, If everything goes as planned, I might bring up the rear so to speak, If I get both of the cars finished-they may be trailered as well. If not the '72 will be under its own power. How are you going up?

We get on the 10 in north Florida. It takes us all the way to L.A. Then Scott gets on some other funky freeways (210?, 55? 57? can't remember) into Anaheim. Exit on Katella Avenue then right to the host hotel, Ramada I believe. They provide lots of trailer parking.

Savannah isn't but 2hrs and change from Jax(I10) and Tallahassee(I10) is about 5hrs and change. I will have to work it both ways, but, I have relatives with a Z (The Aston Martin variety) in Thomasville(half an hour from I10) where I could spend the night before getting the major leg under way!

I will run the numers as we get closer and the car progresses.

Historic Highway, I-10. Back in the fall of 1969, a couple of Japanese fellows drove two silver 240Zs from L.A. to New Orleans on I-10. Eiji Osawa and Hitoshi Uemura. That part of I-10 is sort of sacred; a pilgrimage trail - don't ya think?

If you do a little looking around the archives, you will find some great info from Kats, et.al about the North American test sessions. I got this shot of them in the desert from kats. It may not be actually on I-10, but I remember it looking like this in Arizona.

We ought to organize a caravan extravaganza over some of the sacred roadways of the test trials.

hey ill be there for a look next year, itll be interesting to how you guys to things differently to aussie z's. i think my brain will haemorrage when i see hundreds of z's with their steering wheels on the wrong side! how far away is the show from Redondo?
