Posted November 1, 200420 yr comment_100228 I am trying to get all the correct pieces for my new 71 and one thing i am missing is the ashtray/ switch unit that sits in the center console above the fuse box, I have several in the garage but unsure which actually goes to the 71 year. Love to see a pic of the correct unit intact so I can hunt for all the right stuff , thanks in advance Jeff Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/13854-71-ashtray-switch-housing-pic/ Share on other sites
November 1, 200420 yr comment_100230 I think this is what you are looking for, seerex. The very first ash trays were grey plastic painted black and later ones were black plastic. All the same design up to 8 / 71; 96500-E4101. November 1, 200420 yr comment_100306 Of topic slightly here guys.26th-Z, so does that explain why my centre console is grey under the choke and hand throttle plate. Did these come as grey and then sprayed black????James Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/13854-71-ashtray-switch-housing-pic/#findComment-100306 Share on other sites

They may have been moulded of grey material and painted black in the finishing of the component.
